EP40 bulks up for revenge tour as Canucks tee off

The Canucks descend on Vancouver and tee off for the annual golf tournament, so Matt and Blake start the season by bringing you the biggest clips of the morning meeting with the media. The guys react to Elias Pettersson’s claim of 13 pounds added for the season, and debate whether that or JT Miller’s absence will be the bigger benefit for the season. They listen in on the comments of Boeser and Myers as well, on topics like contract extensions, Foote as head coach, Demko being ready to start, and Evander Kane’s addition to the team. RinkWide’s Jeff Paterson was there on the scene and gives us the lay of the land from the golf course. Plus the guys review a crazy weekend in sports that included the Jays and Mariners in key series, Felix’s run at the US Open, Canadian succes on the soccer and rugby pitch, plus the NFL kicked off with a handful of amazing games.

  1. Putting on muscle in your legs is one way of dealing with tendinitis, so hopefully this is the end of that particular ailment.

  2. Here’s the thing. Severe tendinitis not only is painful but it causes the muscle to turn off (inhibits function). Christian McCaffrey had the same injury in his calf and he basically missed all of last year. CMC is plenty strong enough but could not push off to run for almost a year. Petey’s stride was literally half the length that it normally was because if he tried to generate any power he would get a sharp stabbing pain and the muscle would shut down. There is mentally toughening that out. So much commentary from people that have no idea

  3. Yawn, I’ve seen this story before. Player bulks up in off season, media hypes the new bigger better player, player is not used to playing with extra bulk resulting in slower play and less success. Basically, this year will be a step back for EP40 as he adjusts to new body type.
