On the night Jacob deGrom returned to Citi Field, it was his teammates who took center stage, teeing off on Mets rookie Jonah Tong and sending him to early exit with six runs in the first inning. New York got a solo home run from Francisco Alvarez and managed to cut the deficit in half but deGrom proceeded to retire his last 15 hitters in a row, dismissing any notions of a Mets comeback in their 8-3 loss.
