  1. If it is true that he rejected the 128M deal, then my first guess is that it could be due to the contract structure. Almost all highly paid players receive most of their salary as signing bonuses and their contracts are heavily front-loaded with massive bonuses during the first few years. However, if you look at current Wild contracts, they seem to consist of base salary only with no signing bonuses.

  2. Am I the only one that remembers he's a 28 year old WINGER? You're not giving a 22 year old generational center his first big deal. 16m aav for Kaprizov will be a BIG mistake cap wise, even with it going up. Is he really 5m better than marner? 5m better than kucherov and panarin? 8m better than crosby?

  3. Clearly can't be amount the dollars, 8 x 16 lmao, crazy.
Has to be some term thing, not even a "sign a 2 year contract, then cash in even bigger", because, will he get 16m aav at age 31 ?
For more than 3 years or so ? hell no.

  4. Does anybody remember the summer of 88? Oiler fans will be pissed with management not 97,he's done his part. It's a team game and the team needs to be better

  5. Honestly I would be afraid of the kind of character of a hockey player who would turn down that kind of money to sign for more. Keeping in mind he probably doesn't want to play in Minnesota or whatever the case but given how good he is Minnesota will do very good getting great assets for him if he is traded.

  6. Chris and Julian apologising for story time when that's the MAIN reason why I tune in😅Love the show!

  7. Sorry but the wild is crazy if they pay him more than 16 million. He's not worth that money, and signing an aging injury prone player to eight years at that cap hit will damage their future cup chances. This could be something that makes or breaks Guerin's job.

  8. I was excited for this episode but the required total fixation over the cap is just boring. Player movement is already too conservatie and stagnant. Love ice hockey but I can't enjoy the NHL. Only Uncle Lou gets excited about acquiring 29 year olds. Also, sorry Minnesota, but in a 32 team league, 25 of those markets aren't going to appeal to young millionaires.

  9. The biggest issue i see is that teams with a player or multiple players being paid so highly have never won a cup. If the wild do pay him that much, with what money will they be paying for the depth around him?

Minnesota doesn't have many team friendly deals on the books, and no one is going to sign for the Wild on a team friendly deal for no reason.

The Bruins in the 2010s had plenty of depth and top players, most of whom on great team friendly deals. The Lightning that nearly threepeated had all their best players of that were so good their third line was better than most teams second line.

Right now teams like the Panthers and Golden Knights are benefitting these team friendly deals, and Montreal is looking likely to follow suit.

Meanwhile, teams like the Rangers, Oilers, and Maple Leafs have great players on their team, high end talent, being paid at high end prices. No space for depth, and even if a 12M+ player wanted to sign a team friendly deals, there's no capspace for them to even sign that player to a deal.

I don't think the issue is money, the issue is that the team sucks, and getting paid 16M$ isn't going to help the team win a cup because it'll handicap the team and leave them unable to sign other talented players.

  10. Every basement team right now day dreaming about winning the McKenna lottery then signing McDavid and Kaprizov and winning 6 cups in a row

  11. The Wild need to make a trade happen. The Wild should not have even offered him more than 13M and the fact that he turned down 16M means that he does not want to play there. 16M is already a gross overpay for a player and it will handcuff there ability to win. You can sign TWO $8M players instead..

  12. He's injury prone and done nothing in the playoffs. Not worth $16M per year from my vantage point, but he'll get paid that or more at the end of the day. That being said, we'll need to get used to the fact that contracts will be worth more per year with the salary cap increasing.

  13. I fully expect one or more of these accused junior players to sign with the Oilers based upon recent history (Kane, Virtanen PTO, Perry, Bowman). They seem to love characters with questionable morals.
It makes being a fan difficult for me.

  14. Minnesota doesn't have a chance to win the stanley cup this year. In fact, they've never been good enough to win the cup. That state has had it rough with winning championships, among all their franchises. The Twins have been nice in the past, but they haven't won since 91. Dude either wants amenities, or a relocation.

  15. THIS kirill isn't even top 10, and he turns down 128 million? that is insane. I wouldnt pay him more then 8 million time 8 years or 10 mill 6 years. Any more is a crazy overpay. He has already peaked. I would trade him tomorrow. 28 is on the downside for nhl players. Unless you are a workout freak like tavares, he will never score 40 goals 4 years from now. mORE IMPORTANT, greedy players show they don't give a crap about fans, because guess who will have to pay more to watch?
