Are the Canadiens in a strong position to trade for Sidney Crosby?

TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado joins SC with Jay Onrait to share if Canucks fans should be worried about Quinn Hughes leaving as a UFA in two years, discuss the odds of Hughes signing an extension in Vancouver before July 1st next year, Sidney Crosby potentially being more open to moving on from Pittsburgh, and if he sees the Canadiens in a strong position to trade for Crosby.

  1. a lot of talk but not going to happen? the price would be illogical to pay taking the rebuild plans out of effectiveness and specially medium term aspect. at 38 Sidney is a great hockey player and ambassader of hockey. but habs would have to trade important assets in youth players
If Sidney was 29 things would be different very different. but this guy is among the elite stars of the NHL. very credible. who knows maybe habe and Crosby can pull it off???

  2. Or maybe kaprizov dsn't see himself with the wild for 8 more years why is the entire discussion he wants even more money and we consider no other angles

  3. Would I like it if Crosby played for the habs? Yes, would I like to see Montreal throw away our promising young core in exchange for him in a trade? No way, even though he’s still playing really well, Crosby would only benefit our team for 2 or 3 more years max, I would rather stick to the course and build toward sustained success

  4. Let's just say every player wants to go to Toronto or Montreal and be done. It's all it ever is.

  5. I think Crosby would look great in a Canadiens jersey, but Montreal shouldn't give up much to get him. A reasonable trade would be Crosby straight up for Alex Newhook. Newhook is only 24 years old (14 years younger than Crosby) and is a capable player who's put up 60 points over his past two seasons. Plus the Penguins would save 5.8 million in cap space. It's not a bad return for a 38 year old player even if that player is Sidney Crosby.

  6. The problem i have with these pundits talking about the Habs having to give up premium assets and a potential franchise player is this, if Sid wants out of PITT and wants to go to MTL, how can Dubas not make it happen? How can he say to Hughes that Sid wants to play for you, and only you, but you need to give up your best prospect since LaFleur? Lol No. Dubas would be in such a position of weakness, that Hughes would only have to give a decent roster player (Newhook) an A- prospect (Engstrom) and a B level forward like Roy + a couple premium picks? You aint getting Demidov. Lol

  7. The only basis for this rumor is that Montreal was his childhood team.

He’s a grown man who’s accomplished two decades of hockey, I’m sure there’s more in play. His wife, parents, who he plays with…

  8. Crosby will be traded for very little. Crosby is only going to a team ready to win. Trading away core roster players does the exact opposite.

  9. hes only got a couple years left, Montreal needs to focus on bringing in younger guys and should not give up any real prospects for him

  10. i can't believe he mentioned Demidov hahaha like really. I also heard some other dummies at TSN about trading Lane Hutson for Crosby; Hey TSN Demidov and Hutson are the long term future for the HABS. As for Crosby well he's done in less than 4 years. C'mon guys!! u know better. Lol

  11. Only T.O. Media would be as dumb…Jay has gone downhill ever since his partner was canned….can’t wait for first game of the season…

  12. TSN=The Stupid Network…….absolutely clueless/retarded, I thought Jeff O'Neil had issues, I guess they all drink the same water at the station. Crosby goes where Crosby wants to go…..wake up

  13. 20% of cap is too much for a single player. Those contracts are almost always devastating to a team.

  14. Useless gibberish for the first minute. Cable is such garbage. Never regretted cancelling it 5 years ago. Stop supporting this trash

  15. If Pittsburgh is going to trade away Crosby, why would they want a player who's good now and might still keep them out of the McKenna lottery? In their shoes, I'd go for assets who could help them in 2-3 years.
