2025/26 Buffalo Sabres Roster Preview: Mattias Samuelsson
The 2025/26 Buffalo Sabres have done a lot to stabilize their defensive corps, but Mattias Samuelsson remains one of the biggest question marks as the season approaches. His poor defensive play over his career, general inconsistency and lack of physicality means that his role as assistant captain and top partner has come into question. With the additions the Sabres have made, Samuelsson could be the odd man out as far as a role in the top 4. Given the projected roles of Byram and Kesselring, the draft status and contract of Owen Power, and the fact that Rasmus Dahlin is a bona fide superstar. How will the Sabres handle Mattias Samuelsson in 2025-26? Only time will tell.
