Pat Brisson speaks out on Sidney Crosby and his future with the Penguins



Penguins captain Sidney Crosby’s agent, Pat Brisson, spoke to The Athletic on Tuesday about all of the trade rumors and his future with the team. Hunter and Patrick begin the show discussing Brisson’s comments about the trade rumors surrounding Crosby and why he understands why they’re so loud.     I would LOVE for Pittsburgh to send Wilkes-Barre some of their promos to give to fans down here. They’ve done that before with the team photo and calendars I believe. Pittsburgh probably ordered too many team calendars and sent WBS some.

    I liked dubas draft, he tried to move up and it didnt happen, so he adjusted and implemented a new plan. Got busy with a few 1st rounders and 2 look like a decent bet to be nhlers.

    The criticism of the penguins prospects system not having elite talent is funny because it’s accurate but they have never had the chance to add elite talent imo.

    There are a lot of ways to look at this. He could still be loyal & it means nothing or maybe his relationship with Brisson is more like a Jerry Maguire (the Cup is the Kwan) type of situation. You can’t fault 87 for wanting to win, but he knew what he was signing up for. The team is nowhere close to being a contender, adding would be tough to justify. If Sid decides to leave, no one can blame him—the reality is this group isn’t winning a Cup while he’s in his late 30s or early 40s. You cannot deny folks have thought, is Sid talking thru his agent and sending a message to the new ownership group, because KD isn't changing.

    I'm thinking that Brisson's mixed messages are for the new ownership group…do not take Sid for granted. Also, remember how Sid hinted that he might not resign, when Hextall played hardball with Malkin and Letang's resignings.

    Regarding the draft strategy, it sounds like they tried to move up, especially in the first, and couldn't. Once that ship sailed they didn't see the quality there after Kindel and ended up with an extra first out of it. I would have liked to see Eklund drafted there, but we will see in time if this was wise.

    I doubt Sid goes anywhere, he's a very honorable and loyal canadian, but if he wanted to.. no one in Pittsburgh can complain. He's given that city everything and the city owes him. Also… there has been a rising amount of snarl coming from this podcast about the CHL (I get it your yanks and you think American is the greatest of ever but the CHL is extremely high level hockey). I don't support the movement of players to the Ncaa until they are 20 and def not the ahl.

    Steve Yzerman was one of Sid's favorite players. Steve Yzerman retired as a Red Wing, and he was a Red Wing his whole career. I am not saying Sid wants to be just like Steve Yzerman, but it seems to me that Sid wants to remain a Penguin his whole career.
