I think another two for one trade may be coming up, or we will see the Roadrunners get stacked with quality players.
If But starts in the A, then you have 13 forwards. If But or another forward make the roster, then you waive Carcs or LOB. Neither is likely to get claimed. On D, Vali is on IR and Perunovich likely goes on waivers to make room for Sima. That would be 8 D. DeSimone would be in the press box, but the interesting question is who else is in the press box to get Sima in the lineup. Cole? At goalie, they battle it out and the odd one out get traded or waived.
I believe Schmaltz will be traded when Iginla is ready, and Cole/Valimaki will be traded when Simashev is ready.
Basically they're saying "We're not gifting you a spot. Earn it. Does not matter if you are a 1st round pick, a Russian who just came to NA, a veteran… you gotta perform in training camp and pre-season."
valimaki makes like 2 mil or something i think its time for him to get dumped to a bottom feeder he just doesnt fit utahs needs anymore
This is a make or break year for the playoffs, management and the Coach has thrown down the gauntlet. I don't think we will have to wait half a season to sit a player for not performing. I bet Ingram is going to be gone by opening night, the team isn't even acknowledging him as being one of the goalies they are considering in the rotation. Valimaki I don't believe will play another game for Utah. Yamamoto gets sent down to Roadrunners and you waive Carcone or pay him the 775k to play for the Roadrunners.
I think it is 50/50 whether Iginla and Simashev break the NHL roster sometime this season or they make it at training camp. I love the players and think they seem physically ready, but Beaudoin and But probably need a bit more time in the oven to hone their skills. I don't see Desy making it this year with the injury. I also don't see Lamoureux making the team either. In fact I think this training camp will probably be the deciding factor if they trade him while he is still young and could draw some interest. I think the additions of the veterans GMBA brought in this year and their contracts points to the fact he is still trying to buy some time for development. I could easily see the Mammoth trying to get all these 1st rounders to play together for a year on the Roadrunners. Either way it is going to be exciting !!!
