I'm reading the comment section here and people seem to lack nuance; two opposite things can be true at the same time. Did Rob Hutson talk too much? Yes. Was he justified in saying these things? Also yes.
The bigger problem here is that executives in general, not only in sports, are really petty more often than not, especially americans so this will definitely play in the head of anyone selecting players for team usa, most notably Bill Guevin.
One thing I've learned in business is to NEVER talk about your plans when you are dissatisfied with your own situation, work towards those plans while you bide your time, but saying "I'm unhappy, so I'm threatening to leave" most of the time results in things being worse for yourself, and also the party you are dissatisfied with will immediately start to plan around you if they are smart. Basically shooting yourself in the foot.
