I feel the Panthers have gotten in his head like KC Chiefs gotten into Lamar’s head . I don’t blame Mc.David if he leaves the Oilers , he really wants the Stanley Cup , money isn’t the issue . He wants to go to a true contender. Easier said than done. He’ll have to play with the Oilers until this trade deadline or Connor will simply walk away. Every player that's near the end of their contract is coming to Toronto as per the fans. The media does what it does best create a storyline. Just like we are hearing about Crosby moving.
I think the key word is security: that's going to immediately remove Toronto from the list of destinations given the Marner doxxing saga and the media being all sorts of irresponsible with players' personal details. This is most likely a means to gain some leverage for negotiations or a justification to head to the NHL boonies.

Really don't think Leafs are a cup shoe in……but the price to get McD will be very high. Still think he'll sign with Oilers, ques is how long….My guess is 2 or 4 yrs for the simple reason, it would be a lower cap hit as opposed to 8 yrs. Anyway he is still contracted for 1 more yr on current contract.

Honestly, I am not surprised we are almost at training camp and Mcdavid hasn’t signed yet. It would be very frustrating for the best player in the world to lose twice back to back years Stanley cup final. Mcdavid probably saw how close the leafs were to beating the panthers last year. The oilers really had no chance of beating them and Mcdavid see’s that now. Let alone oilers brass hasn’t done enough this offseason to secure the team for him to sign. At this point there really no reason for him to sign because his value will go up come end of the year. Now he sees Marner leave and he knows there a spot. However I never heard him say he wanted to be a leaf before he was drafted so who knows at the end of the day what he is thinking…will be very interesting.
