  1. I'm more worried about the team being moved. I remember they almost became the Kansas City Pens. Or whatever the new owners wanted to call them. Kansas City even built a new arena for a hockey team. Maybe people forgot that this team was a breath away from being moved.

  2. I think it will be better without Mario. Let’s be honest, he started and over saw the country club atmosphere. This team needs to rebuild with new stars. Hopefully the Hoffman group is competent.

  3. I’ve said this before, if you’re buying the Penguins because you’ve won a bidding war and one of your opponents is Mario Lemieux, even if you’re a perfect owner and the team excels under your ownership, if you slip, even a little bit, Pittsburghers will bury you in hate, because “Mario would have never made that mistake.” Mario is the most beloved Pittsburgh athlete, with the only competition being Roberto Clemente, who for many of the younger generations has become more myth than man. But Mario Lemieux is a God walking amongst us in the eyes of the Pittsburgher, no one, even at their best will compare. People can’t even think about putting Crosby equal to him and for most franchises, excluding perhaps the Oilers and Canadiens, Crosby would have easily been their best player. How can anyone be seen as a better owner than Mario Lemieux, even they are?

  4. DK – I'm sorry if I'm being dense here, but I'm slightly confused by your answer to today's question. I know you said if Mario were to by the Pens back that would have likely impacted Dubas' plan, but you didn't directly mention whether or not, or how much you think THIS new ownership could impact Dubas' plan. That said, I'm sure it's hard to prognosticate what the new owners have in mind.
