He has to be in Pittsburgh or it hurts his development.
Am I WRONG for thinking …this kid…is not only 1 of our best prospects..BUT…hes already 1 of our best defenseman??!!!
It's about time they make this rule
I can't believe no one wanted karlsson. I think the other teams looked at his contract and the way he has played over the last two years and said it ain't worth it.
Um, DK for every year you play in the CHL you get a year of university plus room and board paid for(under practical circumstances) you can't rent a place thats like 15000 a month. Also it's any university in the world in which accepts you plus you can do like one year in Harvard the 2nd year Oxford, 3rd in Waterloo is you want. You don't have to do them in conservative years either. I'm 36 and just used my 21 year of whl (5th year) of free education.
I agree DK, I think he needs to be here in order for his best fit here. They need a better defense. Great show DK
DK, im not sure if its a rule or not but couldn't a team possibly loan a player to a European team for a season so someone like Brunicke to play against grown men since he can't go to ahl
Gavin McKenna is going to Penn State because he’s getting PAID
DK – step back and think about your argument about the junior leagues. You say the agreement in the CBA is stupid and you blame the CHL and compare it to MLB's minor leagues. MLB pays part of the freight for their minor league system, so they should expect to be able to give direction to the teams about who plays where. The CHL are a bunch of independent teams in three leagues with players as young as 15 and the majority in high school that have a business model that develops the vast majority of the kids drafted in the NHL. It is in the interest of the NHL, the Players Association and teams like the Penguins to have that system continue working. And for the system to continue working and churning out players ready for the AHL or college hockey, the junior teams need to have some certainty about their players.
Clearly the world has changed and there are lots more options for young players. The rule change that is being proposed makes oceans of sense and I agree that it would be great for Brunicke to have the option of playing in the AHL.
The rule is due for a change. But calling it stupid is, respectfully, a simplistic misrepresentation.
