I believe he will sign a 2-4 year deal giving him 3-5 more years total then re up again as cap goes up (worst case scenario he can always ask to be traded so riding out the whole year makes little sense as it would be a distraction), BUT even Oilers fans gotta admit they’re at least a TAD nervous it hasn’t gotten done yet.

If McDavid really wants the Cup in Edmonton, then he will have to leave some money on the table. Make it a team friendly contract. If he want's the big bag of money, then the dream of winning the Cup begins to fade. Just think about what the long-term legacy of being a Cup Champion could mean.
