  1. Never thought I'd hear about Baie-Comeau Drakker legend Patrick Thoresen on THG. Didn't even know he was still playing! One of our first superstar even though he was only here for one year.

  2. Leivo scoring all those goals in the KHL is like when Ron Ward scored 2 goals in 70 games one year in the NHL and then scored more than 50 the next year in the WHA. That was with the New York Raiders.

  3. KHL was better than AHL but most of the "almost" NHL players and upcoming europeans left 2022 so its quality blummeted. KHL pays a lot still due the oligarch money but its actual revenue is around finnish league. Now the best league in Europe skillwise is the Swiss league

  4. This means nothing, but the expectation in Moncton is that Desyoners returns to the Q. The wildcats have been making win-now moves, with obviously wouldn't make much sense without him.

Also back to back wildcats legends mentioned??? I must be dreaming

  5. I think the outfit needs a shout out. That Buffalo shirt I hope is close to the end of the countdown, it's majestic.

  6. Doesn't matter what they change the name to, the only one that matters was the FU Center!

  7. The name of the Philadelphia Flyers' home rink is the F U Center. First Union. Not Wachovia, not Wells Fargo, not xfinity mobile.

If I had Elon money, I'd buy naming on all the buildings in the NHL and make them have their old style again. The Spectrum, the War Memorial, the Cow Palace. Come on.

  8. I remember Patrick Thoreson very well. During the 2006-07 season I had gone to a game and the program booklet for that game had an entire centerpage article about Patrick

  9. I'm waiting for the day when Tampax buys a naming rights deal, I'm sure it's coming soon.

Sadly the days of Gund Arena, Jacobs Field (Cleveland), Boston Garden (though TD Garden is pretty close) are gone. I'm surprised more college stadiums don't do this, but I'm with you, I like the generic names

  10. As a flyers fan I vote they go back to First Union Center. Even though I’m sure that bank is even still around lol.

  11. I’ve stood by this my entire life- I don’t mind Arenas having corporate names, so long as they’re companies that are important or based in their cities. Using my hometown Pittsburgh as an example, Three Rivers Stadium and Civic Arena ate iconic and definitely missed, but PPG Paints Arena, PNC Park, and Heinz Field are perfect substitutes. I think that’s part of the reason Acrisure was so clowned on, because it doesn’t mean anything to the city like Heinz does.

  12. as a Flyers fan my favorite arena name was the First Union Center nickname by Philly fans the FU Center . but nothing beats the old Philly Spectrum i can't wait to see the new arena in 2031 and what ever name that is .

  13. As much as Climate Pledge Arena is kind of cringe, I still prefer it over a corporate name. We just call it CPA…

  14. i'm going to open a hockey stadium, it's called the mcdonalds double big mac supreme 5.99$ with a large coke progressive insurance chase bank arena.

  15. Arena names chging is just a weird adjustment. Like the x in minney new name idr what the new 1 is but its still the x

  16. I get it money talks, but if I see slot machines at the Wilds newly named Grand Casino Arena I just might lose it

  17. What I have heard, Leivo was kicked out cause of money reasons. Ufa is not at good shape and leivos salary was over 1.2M dollars. He did miss training camp cause of visa issues and that cave them reason to end the contract.

  18. russia is financially done for thanks to their horrible Soviet Union nostalgia war, UFA is just another big name that has run out of money over there. They can't afford Leivo anymore
