Jeremy Swayman’s Struggle and the path to Redemption

Jeremy Swayman’s Struggle and the path to Redemption

Today, we’re diving into the rollercoaster season of Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman. From high expectations to unexpected struggles, we’ll break down what went wrong, how Swayman is reflecting on it, and what he needs to do to bounce back stronger in the 2025–26 season. He recently did an interview, and I wanted to share what he had to say.

  1. Really hoping he has a bounce back year this season

He still has the potential to be one of the better goalies for the Bruins

  2. As bruins fan i hope he an defense can play better understand injuries an healthy defense around him is needed .im not swayman fan wanted other guy stay sorry brains fried grow weed for living cant rember his name .also im not hoping hes tukka rask rask wasn't even allowed to play Canadians .his head was so weak

  3. This is another Jack Campbell situation. Shows promise, plays well, get's the All Star game. Demands more money than he's worth. Leafs were smart and said no. Oilers gave in and paid the big money. Major disaster. That is Swayman.

But now I have to come to Swayman's defense here. The next Rask? Ouch, low blow, poor Swayman. Even I wouldn't hit that far below the belt. 😐

  4. Oh, damn — I try so hard to be a postive happy person, but you had to make a video about the ONLY Bruin ever that I loathe, lol?! (I skipped the NESN podcast episode specifically because I couldn't stand to hear whatever BS is going to come out of his mouth. He is such a fake!!!)

  5. IDK. Hockey is a team sport through and through. I am not sure we have the forwards, again, to keep the puck in the opponents zone for longer than we do. This inability to do that leads to longer periods of pressure in our zone and on our defense which leads to giveaways, penalties etc etc. It's great we have our top 2 defensemen back and "healthy" but if our forwards can't maintain some form of constant pressure on our opponents, these defensemen get tired out. We fell off in the 3rd period in soooooo many games last year. Scoring is great and obviously we need that too but we desperately need some offensive zone time cycling it around etc to give our D some rest in games. If we can achieve this….I believe Swayman can be the goaltender we hope he can be. If we can't and our defense gets run ragged like last year…no goalie is gonna succeed in that.

  6. All i know is he dam well better bounce back, else we're talking worst contact in teams history territory. Right now that dishonor belongs to either backes or martin lapointe, but he'll run away with it if he don't come correct this time

  7. I think as long as the bruins can play good defense, stay healthy, and actually score more then 2 goals a game.
Then yes. If they don’t then swayman will be left out to dry.
They also need to get rid on korpisalo

  8. I think he can do it. The team being better will help for sure. My big concern is his blocker side was brutal. Did the NHL shooters find a hole in his game? Also how he is perceived in the room? I have a feeling based on some comments last year (Zadorov) that it wasn't great. I am pulling for the guy, but if the start is slow……look out.

  9. Swayman pissed everyone off last off season with the contract demands..haggs was right saying he should only get 5.5 per yr. Sweeny had no choice to over pay. Swayman better get his act together.

  10. Analysis say Swayman could be the best Bruins goaltender since Rask, but Bruins fans think he's the worst thing to happen since Rask…

  11. I don't think any #1 goalie should have to play both ends of a back to back. I think Sacco wanted to win as many games as possible so he would be hired as the head coach minus the interim label. It's always up to the backup to be solid and the team to play hard in front of him . Maybe it's different if you need 4 points in the last week of the season, but otherwise you shouldn't be doing it.

  12. I was one of the few fans that didn't really care about Swayman's contract saga last year. I just figured they'd work it out. What bothered me was the gigantic increase in soft goals. Maybe not fair, but I saw that as lack of effort. Im shocked that the Bruins are just running it back with the same goalies after what we witnessed.

  13. Very positive video! 👍

I only ask that folks dig deeper into his previous stats – take a closer look at the games he played in previous seasons, locations, look at the rosters

beat Vegas at home, when neither Jack eichel nor Mark Stone made the trip east

He beat Caps in OT, but if you look closely Alex Ovechkin was off his game.

Monty was wise to not tell reporters who would be net tender each game until he saw the opponents' final rosters.

None of this would be Jeremy's fault

As I've said before, his development was seriously screwed up. Called up only because halak and Rask were knocked out by covid.

Then he was taught to eat pucks..
    He did that well.

When his first chance at Beijing Olympics was canceled, it was on the Bruins to send him to Europe to get some sort of experience.

    👉 He's FINALLY gotten some.

So let's see if this USA born and trained goalie can find the Jonathan Quick path!

he should've returned to the AHL where he could learn to coordinate with his defense, use the boards, create breakaway situations at a slower speed and lower level…
That's where your goalie learns to help the offense.

The Bruins turned him into a puck eater the first two seasons. They established very bad habits.

I will say this about Jeremy – if he can see it coming? He can stop it.

Court has spoken about the confusion over cleaning up his blue paint.

The partner / tandem goalie with whom he works is going to be important to his success.

He may be a starter goalie, but court nailed it when he talked about back-to-back games

So people aren't going to like this, but I'm more concerned about Korpisalo stepping up

    Both goalies need to
Shut the puck up, and stop them!

Yep – I said it out loud in a microphone and I mean it!

    😮

Love the positive spin on jeremy. Now I'm going to shut the puck up!

    😆

  14. Seems only one direction to go for Swayman. He knows what needs to be done, the defense should be improved from last season.

  15. Jesus. He's a pro athlete. People think that just means he gets paid. Swayman wants to be better every time he puts on his gear. The competitiveness and drive to excel of pro athletes today is unreal. So are their confidence and talents. Each one has the chance to fail since they are human but the mindset is not that of your average hockey fan bullshitting online.

  16. I hope he has a better season this year but if he doesn't what happens then? I wish him success obviously but I have never been "sold" on him.

  17. Zadorov gets a bad rap. I think as long as Little Z can stay out of the box he’ll be seen as one of the better defensive defensemen in the league this year. He was a +25 last year on the worst bruins team in recent memory. That puts him at 14th among defensemen. Honestly, I can see him becoming an alternate captain once the Bs name the new captain if he can get more disciplined. He already lead the defense for long stretches of last year in the absence of Lindholm and Mcavoy.
