No Canadian team can win. If I’m a competitive hockey player, I’d want to play for an American team, win a few Cups and then maybe go and play for my hometown team for a few years. The reality is that no matter how good a Canadian team is, they won’t win anything. It’s been over 30 years. Canadian fans pay most of the bills in the NHL, but get nothing back for it.
If I were him I'd sign one year deals, getting raises every year rather than locking in for 8 years.
