Having Luke's contract end the same year as Jack's is NOT the problem. The problem is that if Luke gets a 5 year deal his contract would the same year as Jack's ……AND TIMO, AND BRAT! There is no way the Devil's are going to have almost the entire core of the team need new contracts during the same summer. He agent knows this or is an idiot. It is a ploy to get more money for the 8 year deal.
Luke is a good defenseman, not quite an all-star yet, maybe in about 3 years, but not now. When his brother is out, he can’t carry the team and his defensive play drops in quality. He is sort of coasting off his brother’s skill and talent since the team win/loss record is 40/60 without Jack, and 70/30 with him. Without Luke, it is still 70/30 with Jack and 50/50 without him. Just saying, Luke is good, but not that good. Hey, I like NJ, and think the team is a deep playoff team. They need a little more grit in D, and a little more consistent scoring, but on a good track.
