Filip Gustavsson Has a PROBLEM

In this video, we break down a recent rough stretch for Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson, highlighting a few weak goals he’s given up—and what might be causing them. Is his over-reliance on the RVH (Reverse Vertical-Horizontal) technique exposing him on sharp-angle plays? We compare the RVH vs Overlap position, using real game footage to analyze what’s working, what’s not, and how goalies can adapt.

If you’re a goalie coach, a hockey goalie enthusiast, or just a fan of elite NHL goaltending, this video will give you a deeper look into modern goalie techniques and their tactical impact.

  1. Sorry for the wait boys, hoping to get another video out tomorrow with a goalie duel from the montreal vegas series

  2. I'm surprised you weren't talking about the burial five hole goal Gustavsson allowed, where he miss timed it and moved his stick out of the way in an attempt to direct the rebound to the corner… Or do I have my wires crossed and that wasn't Gustavsson? I dunno, either way, great to see another video from you, Jimmy. Looking forward to your next one

  3. Oh! Also, did you see Strome attempt to decapitate his own goalie, Thompson? I'm pulling for the Habs in that series, but I definitely did a lot of yelling at Strome through the TV on that play. The only thing worse than getting run over by someone on the other team is getting run over by someone on your own team. Looked pretty bad for Thompson the way he went off the ice after that collision. I hope for his sake it isn't as bad as it looked.
