As the end of August approaches and the pulse of the NHL has almost disappeared, Matt and Blake discuss the strong likelihood that Filip Chytil is the de facto 2nd line centre of the Canucks. The guys get into the risk and possible rewards there, and whether the Canucks really had any other options. They also look at the wild night that was at BC Place on Saturday as Thomas Müller made his starting debut as a Whitecap and scored the winner in the final seconds. The veteran media man John Shannon joins the guys to discuss his chat with Chytil last week and what stood out to him about the conversation, plus, whether the NHL’s uneventful off season prevented the Canucks from making the centre move they wanted. Also, John weighs in on whether NHL team revenue needs the boost of a playoff “play-in”. Then it’s Transfermarkt’s Manuel Veth, fresh off a visit to Munich, with the reaction there to Müller’s move to Vancouver. Plus, Manuel looks at the performances to date, and what the 3 week break will mean for Vancouver’s supporters shield aspirations. The guys wrap up the show with a busy weekend wrap up, looking at Brooke Henderson’s big win, the PGA Tour Championship, the start of the US Open, and the BC Lions losing big in Toronto.

Miller > Chytil. Also, Chytil played behind both Zibanejad & Trocheck on NYR. Therefore, Chytil would be NYR’s 4TH best center if he was still on their team. So no, I’m not buying Filip Chytil as the solution at 2ND-line center for the Canucks. 3RD-line center maybe.
I think the Whitecaps will get some german fans over here Germany 😉 Thomas Müller is beloved by the fans of the National Team and before his move to a different Club a lot of german fans couldnt cheer for his club career because they dont like Bayern Munich because they might be fan of a rival and now they can cheer for his club for the first time. PS: I think the Whitecaps might want to play with Müller as the only Offensive Midfielder and put two Midfielders behind him instead of having one beside him. Vancouvers defense looked pretty easy to counter attack and I think it would be better if they have one man more behind the ball. Furthermore Müller seemed tired at the end and didnt run all the way back anymore to help defending all the time.
So we dumped Joshua because…..
As an all-round impact player, I'd take Garland over Boeser any day of the week. Besides that, Garland's stellar play and participation in the Team USA World Championships win is undoubtedly being rewarded with a camp invite as well.
Matt is right the league is conspiring against us after Rutherfords comments about hughes earlier in the year. You dont think teams smell desperation or the "blood in the water"? To get that 2nd line centre teams will not give us what we want for a deal or market price, they will extract as much as they want out of us. For managers that have said they want to hold there cards close to them they haven't done a good job with those comments.
Were waiting for the right move even if its mid season
My preferred play would be to play chytil as the 2nd C and keep the cap space to make a trade at the deadline hopefully acquiring the 2nd line center
