The only thing I could see stopping the Habs from improving is injuries and/or the PK being horrible after losing Armia and Dvorak

I hate when people dismiss getting into the playoffs last season. Mid rebuild, the team rallied and made the push and was able to secure themselves a spot. They even took a game. I'm incredibly proud of them for pulling that off too. It's nice when fans are actually fans
Goaltending is adequate, D is good but too heavy on skill, needs more sandpaper and defensive acumen. Forward group much deeper on the wing but center position a mess which means lower point totals for Demidov etc., and Laine too slow for 5×5 so good depth poor balance. PP looks promising but PK prob regress. I predict fight until final game to determine playoffs.
I can't believe how many goofy pundits are saying Montreal's one of the worst teams this year! I say we're in for one hell of a fun year and it will be fun to rub their runny noses in it at the end of the season!

Just got a new cable box, it has 3,000 channels. It has 64 NHL channels, plus a channel for every team, including the Habs! I get like 70 AHL channels, a bunch of QMJHL, and a ton of MLB, NFL, NBA, so many sports!!! lol. Gonna be a fun season!!! Can't wait to see how the boys do!!

My first concern is that Habs develop a top level PP. This will give their skilled players the room they need to create their magic. Major bonus would be Laine is at his best.
Patrick Laine could be another reason, he seems motivated
I live in Montreal, and I used to poke fun at my friends who are Canadiens fans and the media, who have a bad habit of overrating players. But since Hughes came on board, it's the first time since the Patrick Roy era (despite good performances in 2010, 2014 and 2021) that I feel the Canadiens have a GM who genuinely wants to do what he can to win the big prize.
Anyone else nervous, this whole teams success is relying on a 5’10” defenseman.

So looking forward to the upcoming season. Seeing the kids out on the ice at Brossard all summer just makes the wait seem that much longer.
The assumption is that Suzuki, Caufield, and Hutson all match or exceed their respective career years. If any slump or are injured, Montreal will be scrambling for a wildcard birth again, irrespective of what the new faces bring.

A Quebec journalist [with supposed inside connections with the team's management] recently reported that the Montreal Canadiens will be looking to offload Price's contract and a few high rated draft picks (and possibly a prospect or two) at the start of September , in exchange for a [possibly western division] top tier center. Could Anaheim's MacTavish still be a viable option here? Just putting it out there. Go HABs.
