Edmonton Oilers 2022 Trade Deadline Targets | Ryan Graves
In a series looking at potential trade deadline targets for the Edmonton Oilers, The Oilers Fanatic takes a look at New Jersey Devils defenseman, Ryan Graves. #LetsGoOilers
as much as I love graves this trade doesn't make much sense unless keith retires cause oilers will have jam at LD with broberg and niemelainen in the Ahl next year, I'd rather upgrade on RD and trade out Barrie with a 2nd and 3rd or trade for a rental LD that can possibly push down keith to the 3rd line, or trade Barrie for Graves and play graves on his off wing
He would be a good addition for the Oilers, but I think you'd have to give up more to get him. Also, not so sure Benson will go unclaimed through the waivers…
There may be an issue with some of your suggested trades. Roster spots. Many teams are fairly tight to the limit and trading 3 for 1 can be a problem. Many teams prefer 1 to 1 with a pick for sweetner where possible but we'll see. Please note: I haven't checked New Jersey's roster count at this time. It's more another factor to consider when you come up with suggestions. Yes, some of these guys can be in the AHL but many can't (1 way contracts etc.). great vid as always. Take care all.
The price seems steep to me. Archie is a throw-away; I don't say that because I don't like him, just that he's not going to be any good to any Canadian team for the foreseeable future.
Neither Lagesson nor Benson are blue-chippers but they're not bums either and giving up both AND two draft picks….. which I'm always averse to doing…. seems like a lot.
I guess the guy's got some value to him but I don't see him being worth 3 players and 2 draft picks.
Any upgrade on our blue line would be great that's what I'm hoping for at the deadline we don't need any more forwards we got enough weapons upfront great job on your homework once again Patrick keep them coming peace 👍
The Graves deal sounds reasonable, especially with his play in the playoffs. But if I may make a suggestion, for alot less to give away in players and draft picks, how about going to Yzerman suggest Barrie to help (Seider's offensive game), throw in a late draft pick for Marc Staal and fan favorite sam Gagner ( depth forward). The cap hit should be in our favor, if the deal works turn around to Eric staal's agent and ask him if he would like to contribute to Marc's Stanley cup run? Being he is the only staal with out a ring. Probably get him for league minimum. Basically 3 players for 1 with dance experience, just a thought
Backspaced too many times….sounds good but…one person mentioned in the trade is very hard for me to swallow….end of story, but I like Ryan….for sure. Thanks Patrick always appreciate your vids
Graves is a interesting target but giving up 2 2nds rounders for a guy that's only going to be a Oiler for 16 months is a step price to pay plus he's a left shot, I'm not in favour of having a guy playing on his offside especially in the playoffs, if we are going all in on bringing in a top 4 D at the cost of 2 2nd rounders that player has to be Mayfield he's a right shot has the best cap hit 1.450 mil is big at 6'5" and is a proven playoff vet with 51 games played and is a plus 22 in the playoffs.
One thing to consider when looking at deadline adds, it's not just about making the cap work this yr but also next and beyond, we currently have 13 players under contract next yr with only 7.9 mil in cap, we have 4 young players that need new deals, Yammo, McLeod, JP and Laggy and no starting goalie, so ever extra penny spent on players with term, makes the offseason that much harder.

One of Soucy, Graves or Mayfield. Hoping to see the oilers get one of these three. Two would be fantastic.

Graves may have health issues…..he doesn’t seem to have played a full season……you were also reading his penalty minutes as his points….
The Oilers need goalies not players.
Love this player and think this trade is well thought out. I would love to see it happen, but I dunno if Uncle Ken can get it done.
