Are Trevor Zegras & The Flyers’ Centers ACTUALLY UNDERRATED?

TSN’s Travis Yost continuned his summer NHL Talent Tiers series, this time ranking the centers and ranking the Flyers in Tier 4 out of 5.

Charlie O’Connor of the PHLY Flyers Podcast and Kelly Hinkle of Broad Street Hockey discuss the list, and why some tiers’ rankings were surprising in comparison to the Flyers.

  1. Tier 4 is still bad. Below average. They are not league average. Suzuki is better than anyone the Flyers have. And Beck is coming for the Habs.

  2. If Zegras can actually be a center, then we have some sort of hope. Otherwise, I would put them below Montreal for sure.

  3. They are not underrated. They are incorrectly ranked IMO. No way the Flyers should be ranked the same as a team with Leo Carlsson and McTavish….. or even a DET with a in his prime Dylan Larkin. Flyers and Bruins should be down in Tier 5 and NSH should be in Tier 4. We are still talking about a team with Stamkos, RoR and Marchessault all C capable.

Are people really trying to say the likes of Couturier, Cates, Zegras and Dvorak are better than that? I look at that and see as is, Four 3rd line Centers. Until Zegras can put up 60 points again, hes in the 3rd line range. It isnt as if he didnt play with talent in ANH. Even if he was playing a position he wasnt comfortable with, players should be able to adapt.

I can legit see this team as a bottom 5 team.
