Just started watching hockey seriously last year. I picked the NYR because it felt right as a NYG fan, unfortunately lol. My sons,4 and 2, are huge hockey boys. Sam's powerplay goal call will always be a part of our household, and it will be yelled on every power play goal that we ever see. It was a big disappointment to hear of his retirm6ent this year, but the man deserves it.
This guy has been a part of my NYR experience for 40 years, and it just won't be the same without him. I guess when we get older, all good things do eventually come to an end.
Thank you Sam. You have been one of my absolute favorite announcers to call games. Starting Thursday, I will never forget you, and I absolutely wish you the best of your future endeavors
