1 PP goal in game 2 OR game 3,& it's never even gets to game 7 for ya to blow it.Ya had a PP in IT of both games,after having a 3rd period lead in both. But while you could've won game 2-i don't think the Avs really gave that game away- Dallas just won it. But game 3 in Landyskog return-Avs flat out gave away that game. 0 for 6 on the PP I think including almost 4 minutes in OT. And not that it was all his fault but Ray Bennet stubbornness to change anything meaningful was much of the reason why in my opinion.(like maybe put Nichuskin on PP1 .ONLY 1 OF THE MOST DOMINANT PP POWER FORWARDS IN THE NHL THE LAST FEW YRS WHEN HEALTHY & NOT SUSPENDED! STATISTICALLY,ANALYTICALLY,EYE TEST…BY ANY MEASURE).
I think the PP coach usually gets too much blame but in this instance he was a big part of the problem. Not that any changes guaranteed would've worked but his inflexibility in game 3-was about as frustrated as I've been as a fan. I work at Ball,& leave at alcohol cut so I wasn't there for OT. But that place was as electric as I've ever seen it.(only times that maybe matched it in the 3 yrs I've worked there were the Nuggets in the NBA Finals,or game 4 when Landy scored. Cuz I started a few months after the AVS won the 2022 Cup). But you could just feel the PP sucking the life out of the crowd-even the 1st 2 periods,& nobody could understand why we kept trying the same personal,& same perimeter,finesse strategy even though it clearly wasn't working & Dallas knew exactly what what we were trying to do. As employees we can't be 100% honest,& criticize like a fan but now that Bennet is gone I can-lol. Nichuskins big but in front alone could've made all the difference in my opinion.
Cuz no way we lose that series if we win game 3…AVS win in 6 if they score on that OT PP. I'm kinda amazed we even got to game 7 after losing that game but then the game 7 collapse was just icing on the cake. But that certainly was my most frustrating game in 3 yrs working at Ball-even worse than Nuggets-Minny game 7 in 2024. And it's arguably my most frustrating loss in 49 yrs of being a Denver sports fan. Because of how you lost,& how you stubbornly beat yourself vs a team missing 2 All stars. And the fact you definitely get to WCF,& probably the Finals if you win game 3. I don't think we'd beat Florida but I do think we probably would've been back in the Finals with a shot,& that would've been a great run instead of a devastating 1st round loss. Even WCFs would've been a good run but game 3 was the key.
Avs need to sign roslovic for 3C. He obviously thought he was worth more then he was and might sign in Europe now.
