Did the Montreal Canadiens just pull off the biggest steal of the NHL Draft weekend? In a blockbuster NHL Trade, the Habs acquired star defenseman Noah Dobson from the New York Islanders. Join us for a deep-dive analysis of this massive Canadiens trade, breaking down every angle. We debate whether Kent Hughes overpaid by giving up the 16th and 17th overall picks, or if securing a top-pairing, right-shot defenseman was a stroke of genius that accelerates the rebuild.
In this episode, we evaluate Dobson’s skill set, comparing him to other elite defensemen and discussing his potential superstar ceiling. We also explore why Montreal was willing to part with high draft picks in a “watered down” draft class and, most importantly, how they managed to keep their top prospects like David Reinbacher and Logan Mailloux out of the deal. We’ll touch on the salary cap implications, potential line pairings, and what this move means for the Canadiens’ hunt for a top-six forward. Whether you think this was grand larceny or a risky gamble, this discussion covers it all!

25 yr old 70 point defensemen literally never get traded or hit the market. Jackpot for Montreal
Come on Kenny!
I'm sorry guys, but you're doing a hockey podcast and one of you doesn't know who Noah Dobson is during the draft, when the trade was made 8 hours before. You're talking about Sergachev trade with McCarron who knows why? Then Tinordi….. You lost me there honestly
you split the ofensive defenseman through the line up. huton, dobson, and matheson each on his line with a responsible d on the other.
ghule, carrier, then theres a hole… xhekaj as the 7th and need a rhd. this is for reinbacher i guess
Hey guys. Dobson will be gd for you. He needs a solid defensive-defenseman next to him. He did really well paired with Adam Pelech who was just that, at the time. When we swapped and put Noah next to Romanov he dropped off. Plus he was hurt. I love Romanov but he’s a heavy hitter as you know and prob better to have a more positionally sound guy next to Noah rather than a menace type guy. Hope he does awesome for you all.
Big win for the Habs I agree! Looks like a real stud 25 years old !! So young to fit with our core which is around that age. The avg age of the team must be like 24 now that Savard , Armia and Dvorak. Future is bright here
Really, Kenny? Do you follow hockey?
Huge mistake
Loving the Montreal accents! Adorable
I honestly believe Dobson was strangled with the Islanders garbage defensive play.
He will get all the chances in Montreal.
Awful.
MTL gave picks they didn’t need and a player that is easily replaceable for a top pairing 25 yo 6’4” right shot D. Massive win (not meaning its a loss for Islanders since they picked a generational D with the lottery win.
Guys, I know you're a bunch of friends doing Hab chat but there should be a little show prep before the show. Hab fans are hard core. Not knowing what's going on doesn't wash ..
