  1. 2 class acts.. OVI and the GREAT ONE congratulations to you both for playing and representing the coolest sport on earth.. Your Ambassidorships to the game has meant so much for the fans of the game !

  2. Саша,береги семью,оссобено детей.Поздравляю.Детям России помогай, и освобождённым территориям,нуждаюс очень в жилье

  3. What a disgrace. Ovechkin is an outspoken supporter of war criminal and genocide engineer Vlad Putin. In fact, his profile photo on his Instagram account shows him standing with Putin. When the NHL asked him to delete the photo from his account, he refused, arguing this would be tantamount to criticising his president and putting his family's safety in danger. And then the league did absolutely nothing. In August 2014, Ovechkin posted "Save our children from fascism" in support of russia's illegal annexation of Crimea. For those who mistakenly believe that sports should be separate from politics, be reminded that Ovechkin leveraged his superstar status to found "PutinTeam" in 2017, a campaign aimed at supporting and re-electing tsar Vlad. Ovechkin and any of his countrymen who refused to take a firm stance against russia's illegal, immoral and merciless invasion and subjugation of a sovereign nation should have been ejected from the league a long time ago. Too many people chose to close their eyes and bury their heads in the sand when appalling war crimes and a genocide are taking place. Shame on you, Ovechkin. And why Gretzky, who is of Ukrainian heritage, shook AO's hand is baffling.

  4. Now that the gr8 chase is complete, he can start actually playing like a team. He may be the greatest goal scorer now, but when he plays more with the team, he will then maybe have more cups. Instead of just scoring……

If anyone would disagree, and say oh can't compare the two (gretsky, ovechkin) because of different time eras. Smaller equipment, smaller nets etc… fact of the matter is that they scored the same amount of goals, in the same time frame exactly…..

Despite that, gretsky had won four cups and almost 3x more assist than goals. Ovechkin is great, but he's really not a team player. If he was, he would've had more cups, more assists etc…..

Gretsky is and will forever be the GOAT! He's there for eternity, as i don't think anyone will beat his all time points record….

  5. Канадцы называли рекорд Гретцки «вечным», потому что никто из них не верил, что его можно побить.

Сегодня канадцы не верят, что Канада станет 51-м штатом США.

  6. To be honest. If you play hockey this late in your life you have to be miserable. Anyone who plays knows that it hurts like hell. Alex must be in debt to his ears.

  7. While Ovechkin's sons bring joy to his family, Ovechkin's party, One Russia, is responsible for the death of over 3,300 Ukrainian chidlren, and kidnapping of more than 1.8 million children because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

  8. The game should have been played at The Nassau Coliseum where so much Islanders history lays. I only wish the real all-time goal scorer (if his back held out), Mike Bossy, were alive to see this.

  9. Gretzky single handily turned the NHL from a second tier professional league into its rightful place with the other 3 major pro leagues in North America. Without Wayne & growth of the NHL in non traditional hockey markets, who knows what path the league would have taken. Perhaps Russian stars like Ovechkin wouldn’t have come to play in the NHL at all.

There will never be another Gretzky. It’s safe to say his all time record for points will never be broken. Just think if Gretzky played his entire career for a team like the Capitals. He would’ve been more inclined to shoot more often & may have scored over 1000 goals. I’d like to see career shots comparison between Gretzky & Ovi – I’m guessing Ovi has Wayne outshot by a wide margin. Not to take anything away from Ovi…but obviously if he’s taken 500 more shots shots than Wayne, that’s a 100 goal advantage right there.

  10. The NHL nailed this. This was perfect. The fans got an extra chance to boo Bettman. His entire team was in on the picture. And over and over Ovi said "WE did it, boys! WE did it!" Take that, LeFlop. I feel so lucky to have been watching this moment live and Im glad I can relive that happiness.

  11. Wayne you are an embarrassment sell your alcohol and your bet 99 somewhere else please do not come back to Canada anytime soon we don’t need you or want anything you’re selling 🙃👍

  13. Im not gonna pretend that im a hockey fan i just literally stumbled onto this today cause i was wondering how Ovi has been….wow!!!!….reading all these comments i can tell how insane this is…from my point of view not knowing much about the sport, Wayne Gretzky's name is almost synonymous to Hockey…so to beat his scoring record…that stood for over 20 years…thats just…unbelievable…i was watching Ovi's championship run highlights today and decided to just check who has the most career goals…i was like whoa no way…and then found out that this was literally this year…and hes at age 39 still going!!! Much love …much respect…im gonna have to check some more highlights from now on!

  14. Знаком с Сашей, очень рад за него, когда кубок Стэнли взял. Я, в моей семье Динамовцев Спартаковец, но искренне рад за Александра и его маму.

  15. i remember being live at Rogers Arena at the 2010 vancouver olympics and watching team Russia play in person. i was front row right next to the team Russia bench. i had a beautiful blonde girl as my date from Poland. and this guy Ovechkin would skate by and wink at my date during warm up & whenever he was skating nearby. his hair wasn’t so gray then…he was so youthful :):) it was a relax game for Russia they were playing some shitty team like Latvia or something. he was so relaxed and so cool and so in control and having fun. that’s why he’s a champ. he loves hockey and loves life and has fun…and he’s the best at it. and nobody deserves this honor more than him 👍

  16. This is a prime example of why sportsmanship is not only important, but it feels good to share joy with others, even if it's the other team. Rooting against the opponent is part of the game, but at the end of the day, it's the ultimate gesture of class to be a respectful opponent. Classy all around here. Ov is just unbelievable.
