  1. The Red Wings ownership and front office do a lot for the hockey community in Michigan. For instance, getting the center ice design right. One thing they can stop doing is kicking the rebuild down the road and get Larkin, the Captain, a top six left winger. Stop kicking the tires on this need, and just get it done. If not, that need a top four right defender for Seider. Getting this done isn't about the fans spouting, "Playoffs or bust." It's about the conversation surrounding the continued maturation of Raymond and Seider not being tethered to being held back due to drained towards March because they have to over work. Larkin voiced this towards the end presser and still needs addressing. Just an opinion due to the appropriateness of the topic.

  2. Kane: PP specialist who will chip in some 5 on 5. I actually think he may have a better year this year with McLellan and coming off his first full season back from hip resurfacing.

Docker: I have a feeling he's going to surprise people. I could see the November D pairings being Ed-Mo, AlJo-JBD, Chiarot-Gus.

Mazur: Man, I want this guy to do well, and he's just been so snake-bitten with injuries. I want to see what he can do. Hopefully he gets an opportunity and seizes it.

  3. As weird as it sounds, Kane's contract is similar to Chariot, don't kill me yet. These contracts are "good enough until the youth takes his spot" the length of copp or comph was the expected timeline.

  4. Kane as of this past season deserves to be on FIRST line, yet you two are discussing demoting him to 3rd line. You then pivot immediately into "hey if we demote him to 3rd line, we wouldn't have to keep DeBrincat on 2nd line anymore! We could give him back to Raymond!" Revealing the actual reasons for your attempted absurd burial of Kane, who was miles better than Lucas Raymond at 5v5 the last 4 months of last season. This is a continuation of the Derek Lalonde mistakes and mistaken way of looking at the team and Raymond nepotism that destroyed last year and cast a dark cloud over the season – and even 23-24, where an absurdly dominant Larkin Cat Kane line kept getting broken up bc of it.

Larkin DeBrincat Raymond played together a substantial amount last season, and lost 13-9. Larkin DeBrincat Kane won 7-4, are winning 21-10 the last 2 years.

Kane is winning 21-10 with Larkin as his center the last 2 years, 9-4 w Kasper as his center. THAT is why he should be on 1st or 2nd line full time, as of this past season. Bc the team outscores the opponent by a huge margin when he is. Larkin the last 2 years has a 66% GF% at 5v5 w Kane on his line, a 40% GF% at 5v5 without Kane on his line. THAT is a problem and it's one a show supposedly analyzing the Wings in depth should probably start wondering about.

A Wings analysis show should also probably make note of certain things, like how Kane's GF% at 5v5 has beaten his "expected" GF% at 5v5 an incredible 16 out of 18 times in his career, while Lucas Raymond's GF% at 5v5 has been worse than his expected GF% at 5v5 all 4 years of his career. These are strong trends, gentlemen. Kane is +121 at 5v5 for his career despite almost a full decade now on bad hockey teams. Including 3 years on a particularly dismal tanking team in Chicago, while also on a broken hip. That isn't by accident. He has always been an effective player for his hockey teams at 5v5, and helped them win.

Lucas is -43 at 5v5 in 4 years, Dylan is -52 at 5v5 in 10 years. Kane during in his 3 injured years was -1, -2, and -9 at 5v5 for a tanking Chicago team. In his 15 non-injured seasons, he's been a plus at 5v5 14/15 years. Lucas has been a plus at 5v5 0/4 years, Dylan has been a plus at 5v5 2/10 years.

Another fun stat, speaking of 5v5 plus and minus. DeBrincat for his career is +25 at 5v5. Here are his year by years: +13, +8, -2, +7, -2, -16, +13, +4

See that minus 16 that sticks out like a sore thumb? That is Ottawa. The only year of his career he didn't have Kane.

Throughout this I have been careful to say "as of last season". Kane as he says is year to year. He could get hurt and be done at any time. But as of last year… no.
