100% agree with Jesse on this one. Yes, it was the right move to pull Otter to circulate a jolt in a desperate situation. However, throwing Otter under the bus and blaming him for the losses against the Oilers in front of the media is not ok in any capacity. I don’t know how he has not been fired for this already. If I was the Stars, I would be writing a pink slip bigger than the state of Texas itself.
With the caliber of players stars have and the amount of goals they scored. Jake might be the last guy I’d give any blame to. Haven’t seen Deboer wearing a ring yet either maybe take a little blame yourself too bud
He should’ve just kept him in. They weren’t going to win. Might as well show that you have the upmost confidence in your goalie for when next season starts.
The Oilers shelled every goalie until they finally got through them in every round. Kuemper was playing Vezina level all year and even against the Oilers but they just keep coming and 7 games is a long time to stand on your head. Hill went through the same.
Otter's D threw him under the bus. I understand pulling him (I wouldn't) but the comments after were from someone who thinks one of them aren't coming back. Pulling him after 2 uncontested net front goals is brutal though
DeBoer and Brind’amor are exactly the same. They just become ghosts as soon as a conference final starts. I don’t believe the Panthers outclass the Canes on paper as much as everyone claims, but I’ll admit the Cats r ridiculously deep. The Stars’ tho, they have more talent than Edmonton. They do, and DeBoer got owned in this series.
You look at that, now look at the way the Oilers circled the wagons around Stu Skinner. McDavid and Draisaitl looked like they were about to drop the mitts with the press corps for even DARING to question THEIR tendie. Now you know why one team is going to their 2nd straight SCF, and the other one can't get out of the WC.
Pete can’t have anyone asking why the Stars did worse this year against the Oilers with even more talent than last year. 9-9 in the playoffs and a -15 GD. If Rantanen didn’t go nuclear for a week they’re out in round 1.
"He allowed 2 goals on 2 shots"… Yeah, and those two shots were Perry left all alone in the slot on the PP, then a breakaway given to Janmark. MAYBE, just MAYBE the defense is to blame before Otter. This is so tone deaf from DeBoer.
Die hard stars fan here i underestood all of robos frustration when he scores the 1st goal and still looked pissed. The team played bad. I understand pulling a goalie to create a spark dont throw otter under like that. This wasnt his fault. Second, why do you need to creat a spatk in an elimination gamr of the wcf only 6 min into the game shouldnt you as the coach have had your team ready to play and put a good game plan, scheme to force a game 6 i loved deboer prior to this series but after this and this presser im not sure if hes the coach to get this loaded roster over the hump when season gets down to the toughest and most dire competition 2 years in a row its looked to me as if hes tried to have the stars play like the oilers stars not the dallas stars that got them there and its really frustrating to see
Those were the easiest 2 goals of the playoffs and neither of them are on Otter. His defense split the sea like Moses for those Perry and Janmarks goals. Shit I would’ve scored on Otter too if I’m allowed to just sit in the slot looking for a tap in on the open side of his net. The Perry goal specifically is absolutely embarrassing from his defense.
Firing doesn’t even feel like a worthy punishment, If I’m ownership I’d be wanting to fire DeBoer into the sun from a cannon if I was able to.
Guess you weren't alive for Roy-Trembley, but yeah, this was pretty darn close to that. If I was Stars management, Pete would be cleaning out his office today.
If he left Otter in they would not have scored another goal. PDB needs to go, all he is capable of is getting lucky and making it to conference finals.
No. He has every right to call out a player. Dude needs to play better. You can’t have the team work their asses off to get that far to have him crack under pressure and throw the series for the team. He’s had multiple playoffs to get things settled and he’s blown many games they’ve played. This ain’t Toronto. Playing bad will get you moved. And Jake needs not just out of the Dallas net, but out of Dallas. This team shouldn’t have lost.
Mybe learn how to teach a team to play both ways instead of one way. Dudes entire MO is outscoring opponents. Id rather have a team that doesnt let the opponent score.

Never seen this in nhl history ? Cap
A Peter DeBoer masterclass.
Pete’s done. He won’t be unemployed for long

DeBoer is a scumbag hope he never wins a cup. He did the same thing to Fleury in LV
Pete DeBoer needs to be fired, Dallas deserves a better coach
Way too early
The alternative… leave him in until he gives up six goals and go with six attackers in the last five minutes.
That's what the Toronto Sceptres did in game 3 with the reigning goalie of the year.
Do you remember Patrick Roy's last game in Montréal ?
Can't help but think there's a funny joke in there somewhere about them both wearing 29.

DeBoer has a large sample size of losing in the Conference Finals. Maybe he should take a look at that before blaming his franchise goalie

Should fire him and Nill should say "I don't blame it all on Peter, but status quo was a large sample size for us."
Future quiz question

Is it ironic that i'm listening to The Pretender by Foo Fighters as i'm seeing this.
They could have had a literal brick wall in goal, and that defense would still find a way to let in those two goals.
Isnt PDB 2-6 in conference Finals with 4 different teams? …. I don't think Otter is the problem
