This CAP PERCENTAGE. thing is not the GOLD STANDARD
You're gonna have between 10 to 15 teams that are not
spending anywhere close to the cap
And about 5 TEAMS that are trying to GET OVER the SALARY FLOOR
I'm pumping Lane's tires all the way to the playoffs boys!
Obviously I get the concept of negotiating a percentage of the cap from a player’s standpoint. But, like, the players who want to win above all else (and I’d suggest Hutson is one of them)… wouldn’t it be better to sensibly think that through? Being 8% of the cap allows the team to be better. As if a million less a year when you’re gonna make 8.5 minimum isn’t worth winning from that kid’s standpoint. It’s what I love about this team, I don’t think any of em are looking to handcuff the group in a selfish way. I truly believe he’s gonna sign 8 years at a max of $9M. Might even be like 8,75-ish. He gets to sign another deal as a free agent. It’s not a crazy number coming out of entry deal.
