  1. I would have to give an honorable mention to Steve Thomas just because I loved him as a player He could fly up the boards with a loose puck

  2. Niedermayer was awesome. Just wish he could have had an off year in 2007, lol! Was never happening, though…
Think he wanted that win for his brother more than anything.

  3. I always liked Brian Rafalski. Low key defenseman who could play both offensive and shut down. Bobby Carpenter also. Elias is definitely a Hall of Famer. I think him and Steve Larmer are the guys most deserving to be there who aren't. Bobby Holik was another favorite. Both him and Bruce Driver also crossed enemy lines. Scott Gomez too. But who could resist with the money the Rangers were throwing around, LOL.

  4. John Madden, 2000 & 2003 Cup with the Devils, and 2010 with Chicago, Sykora, 2000 with the a Devils, played vs the Devils with the Ducks in 2003, won his 2nd with Pittsburgh in 2009.

  5. Remember Sergei Brylin? One of the 5 players along with Daneyko, Brodeur, Niedermayer and Stevens who won all 3 cups with the team

  6. Loved watching Bobby Holik battle some of the big centres in the playoffs. Messier and Lindros come to mind. Another under-rated bottom 6 favourite of mine was Sergei Brylin. Hard worker with a decent touch around the net.

  7. First NHL game I ever sat down and watched all the way through was Devils vs. Rangers. Hockey wasn't a thing locally and NHL broadcasts were rare on the national networks. I think it was supposed to be a New York showcase. Announcers wouldn't stop gushing about the Rangers. It made me hate them instantly, a sentiment I still maintain. And, honestly, they looked like the better team, with tons of shots and great individual efforts.

However, despite all of that, the unquestioned main character for that game was Martin Brodeur. He wasn't just stopping all the shots, he was out there making plays and frustrating an entire team. As someone who didn't know anything about hockey, Brodeur looked like an absolute rock star. He made the announcers change their focus and he made me a fan of the sport. I've seen very few goalies since who can take over games in the same way on a consistent basis–only Roy and Hasek come to mind.

Because of that, Brodeur will always be my favorite Devil and one of my favorite hockey players, period.

  8. Yeah Buddy! This is straight off the top ….
    1) Mike Peluso
    2) Claude Lemieux
    3) Scott Stevens
    4) Ken Danyeko
    5) Bruce Driver
    6) John MacLean
    7) Pat Verbeek
    8) Randy McKay
    9) Stephane Richer
    10) John Madden
    11) Sergei Brylin
    12) Slava Fetisov
    13) Alexander Mogilny
    14) Scott Niedermayer
    15) Jason Arnott
    16) Joe Nieuwendyk
    17) Patrick Elias
    18) Petr Sykora
    19) Chris Terreri
    20) Martin Broduer
    Missed so many and WHY?
Because the NJ Devils are DOPE Brooo!!!

  9. Cory Schneider took over from Brodeur and was incredible while the team ahead of him was traaash. RIP His groin.

    Great list.

I'd have Scott Gomez and Sergei Brylin somewhere on this list.

  10. Schneider was a case of "right goalie, wrong time". He played his butt off and was flat out fantastic his first few years in Jersey. But the rest of the team was not. They unfortunately wasted Cory's best years.

  11. Solid list. My personal top 2 are Scott Niedermayer (the best skater to ever play for the organization), and Chris Terreri. I loved Terreri. And I was pissed when Marty came in and (in my mind at the time) stole Terreri's job. Obviously I warmed up to Marty a few years later haha. But I was an emotional teenager at that time in the early 90's.

  12. Here's another 20. Lemieux, Mogilny, Rafalski, Holik, Gomez, Guerin, Rolston, Verbeek, Brylin, Shanahan, Kovalchuk, Richer, Morrison, Friesen, Pandolfo, Jagr, White, Stastny, Jagr, Oliwa………..

  13. All-Time team, excluding current Devils:
    Elias-Arnott-Sykora
    Kovalchuk-Gomez-Mogilny
    Lemieux-Holik-Langenbrunner
    Pandolfo-Madden-Brylin
Extras: Parise, Verbeek, MacLean, Friesen, Gionta, Peluso, McKay
    —–
    Rafalski-Stevens
    Niedermayer-Daneyko
    White-Albelin
    Extra: Martin
    —–
    Brodeur
    Terreri
    Extra: Burke

  14. My favorite Devils Players: 1. Sami Vatanen 2. Erik Haula 3.Janne Ojanen 4. Claude Lemiux 5. Alexander Mogilny 6. Scott Niedermayer 7. Scott Stevens 8. Brian Rafalski 9. John Maclean 10. Bobby Holik

  15. My top 20
    1. Scott Stevens
    2. Martin Brodeur
    3. Scott Niedermayer
    4. Brian Rafalski
    5. Patrick Elias
    6. Scott Gomez
    7. Colin White
    8. Ken Daneyko
    9. Sergei Brylin
    10. Alexander Mogilny
    11. John Madden
    12. Brian Gionta
    13. Jay Pandolfo
    14. Travis Zajac
    15. Andy Greene
    16. Dainius Zubruis
    17. Nico Hischier
    18. Jesper Bratt
    19. Jack Hughes
    20. Dawson Mercer

  16. It’s still surprising that Brian Gionta has the single season goal record for the Devils. It’s not a guy like Elias or even Parise. I still see him as a Hab.

  17. I know he wasn't alway a Devil but I got to know him as one. He was my favorite goalie back when I started in net, even more so than Richard Brodeur.

    Glenn "Chico" Resch

  18. Starting at 1: Brodeur, Elias, Stevens, Arnott, Gionta, Madden, Daneyko, Niedermayer, Jack Hughes, Henrique (it's over), Kovalchuk, Mogilny, Pandolfo, Coleman, Hischier, Hall, Bratt, Lemieux, Clarkson, Colin White

Despite being one of the best players to wear the jersey and our captain in a trip to the Finals, I doubt many people will have Parise on their list.
