  1. As a Canes fan I can tell you they have no interest in Rosy over KK. They tried that experiment during the season last year, it didn’t work well and before you knew it Rosy was the 4C.

Then Jankowksi came back in and Rosy was a healthy scratch basically all playoffs.

His numbers are a bit of a mirage. He started out getting top line minutes, he was first thought of as a cheap Guentzel replacement.

But his defensive issues saw him bounced around the lineup and healthy scratched like I said.

So in short, they’re not signing him unless it’s to retry with him as C depth, but he’d be behind Jankowski still and probably just next to Jost.

They’ve got the 10 million in cap space, common consensus is they are waiting, like every other team, to see who starts out good in the first 2 months, and who doesn’t and may be more willing to take futures and minor roster players in a sell-off.

They’re going to make more moves, likely around C is my guess, probably no later than Christmas time.

  2. I think the Panthers have proven what it takes to win in the playoffs. Grit mixed with skill.

  3. Just FYI, the Canes GM’s name is Eric Tulsky, not Tulusky.

As for bringing back Roslovic, I don’t really see a good reason to unless we could get a good deal for him. He started really hot last year which racked up his goal total but then he coasted and underperformed in the late season and playoffs. He could potentially replace Jankowski or Robinson but they’re both solid players and Jankowski especially is a big, tough dude who can help against teams like Florida who want to get into rough stuff.

As much as I’d like a better 2C (I’d love to have Tage Thompson), I think our team needs a better goalie. We had the fewest shots against in the NHL but we were 24th in total goaltending (.893% I believe). That’s not great. Maybe Dustin Wolf could replace Kochetkov or he could become a third option. Elite goaltending would make this team unstoppable.

  4. If Carolina wanted Roslovic they would have signed him by now.

You are so far off comparing Kotkaniemi to Roslovic – and the whole “if they move on from Kotkaniemi”, think that’s extremely old by now and you should “move on” from wishing for his failure.

  5. Just say NO! Rosi died after December. He was bad on Center. He is a better winger. Like it or not the second line produces with KK at center. KK's numbers are not great but the line numbers are good…..but only when KK is at center! The last 3-4 playoffs Rod has dropped KK to the fourth line for some reason. Statsney killed the line production, Zero offense Jack Drury killed the lines production 2 years in a row, Roslovic and Jankowski also killed the production last year.

  6. Personally as a former pro player (center) coach and scout, I would like to see the following as far as line up.-
L1-Ehlers Aho Jarvis. this is expected. I agree with this.
L2-Svech SUZUKI Stankhoven. Yes Ryan Suzuki. 1C, PP1C, points leader, AHL ALL-STAR playmaking center on the Wolves last year. He should have been the first call up over Jost and Jaaska last year!!! With the right wingers Suzuki will make the plays and find his wingers just like he did with Nadeau last year.
L3 Hall KK Blake This was basically the 2nd line last year toward the end of the season before the playoffs where Rod killed the second line by putting Jankowski/Roslovic at 2C.
L4- Martinook Staal Robinson/Carrier. Yes 4th line. This is a checking line! I would say the best in the league but still a checking line! AKA 4th line!
Right now with Jankowski as your 4C the Canes would again have two 4th lines. They have L1, L2, L4A, and L4B. They do NOT have a true L3! My forward line up gives 4solid lines that you can run all game long.
Defense. Issues I see. It is lop sided. Someone will have to play their off side. I am scared of Nikishin and Ghost match up. I still have PTSD of DeAngelo and Orlov! Ghost needs someone to cover his defensive mistakes. The pairing of Morrow and Ghost was trash. With Chatty out last year it exposed Orlov and Ghost. It showed how good Walker can play. You can do this a few different ways.
D1-Slavin Nikishin- Let the kid learn from the master. But with that you force him to play a lot of minutes and against the leagues best.
D2- Chatfield Miller- This D pair would be very fast. Lots of speed and two guys with great shots!
D3- Walker Ghost. This pair did well last year. Walker covered many of Ghost's mistakes that could not be covered in the playoffs.
Other Option would be Slavin Miller, Chatfield Ghost, Nikishin Walker. I'm putting Chatfield on the off side because he did great there two years ago with Slavin out.

PP1 Ehlers Aho Jarvis Ghost Nikishin- Ghost is good on the PP and Nikishin in the KHL was as well. Put the kid with Ghost so he can adjust to the NHL before trading Ghost at the deadline please!
PP2 Blake Suzuki Stankhoven Svech Chatfield – Yes Chatfield! Fast skater, Moves the puck well, Has a great wrist shot, the shot you want on the PP because it is silent on delivery. If you have net front the goalie cant hear it or see it. with the Canes PP standing for passing play with zero net front his shot is accurate as well.
Goaltending- Will Freddy stay healthy??????? Look to PK to have a great year!

  7. The Jordan line will not be broken up. Just no way Martinook and Staal are separated. I would be happy with Rosy, but he deserves the chance to play somewhere he could get more toi

  8. Kotkaniemi absolutely has got to go, he does not bring much to his game that you can’t find from cheap 4th liner players on the market. He’s horrendous offensively, lacks physicality and isn’t outstanding defensively either. He lacks a role as a player, just a passenger.
