After struggling against Carolina, Sammy G grants us a W! Second time in a row with a statement play from our d-core. The Avs are turning the tide again (with a little, and long overdue, help from the hockey gods).
PS. Chris & Shaggy, as always, it's so nice to see you in the morning!
PS2. Subtext for European fans? Anybody has an idea how to make it work? Shenanigans acceptable 😉
Awesome game, especially by the blueline and Georgiev. With that in mind, I can't recall ever seeing Sammy G look as fast as he did on that breakaway. As the D-men won this game, my sound check is "Protect You" by Band-Maid.
The Wife and I had on the glass seats for this game and the Cane's game on Saturday, the place was rockin' after the 1st period in both. Props to Georgiev, he seems to have the mental side back. Great extended weekend in Denver. Gotta let my voice heal up now😂😂
Can we be awake before goal 1, every time it seems they wait for 1 goal against 😅. Fun game. Refs called the one against the avs because of the stamkos penalty i feel like. Georgiev played good. I hope they rest him more than last year. Our pk is improving as georgiev is.
Georgie has been playing well. I was mid typing this and Shaggy mentioned my take. You look at Sarros hes upright in the goal. Georgie makes a lot of snow angels. He got the stops and he did look better. I'm still nervous im not sold just yet.
I said that Winnipeg game would be the perfect pick-me-up for Georgiev 😏
Georgiev can stand on his head for the rest of the season, win the cup, and still he will be rejected – he should find a team that fits Him better and where the fan base has the goalies back even if he has a bad streak. It just won’t work for him in Denver.
Georgiev is looking like he's back in form. The team is FINALLY playing better in front of him and he's making the saves he wasn't. Good thing to see.
As the resident Girard hater, good for him for doing something offensive for once. That's 1 of his 5 goals he'll have ALL season 😆 I'm half shocked he didn't throw the puck wide of net like he always does. He can have this moment, it'll be forgotten by next week. One OT goal doesn't change the fact that he's always terrible defender in the playoffs and cannot defend real MEN. If you want a President's Cup Girard is your regular season guy. If you want a Stanley Cup better get some bigger, more aggressive beef
Sammy gets his Center-of-Girard way, way low on the ice, looks like a rolling cannonball. Watching that I'm yelling GO SAMMY DAMMIT! Fortunately it wasn't the usual 11:30 PM Avs OT time, so I don't think I woke any neighbors.
Glad the goalie situation has settled down for now, but gotta feel bad for JA, he basically saved the Avs season and is being tossed aside by Bednar.
Georgiev stole this game to be clear. CORSI, xGF, HDCF, etc all favored NSH who were better overall. Granted we had two one goal leads in the game that lead to some complacency. Team D is a work in progress.
The Mikko penalty, I agree with you on everything except I don't blame them for blowing the play down for an injured player on the other end of the ice. If they let the play continue, the avs are getting basically a power play opportunity because an opposing player is potentially injured, and while I love an Avalanche goal, that's a gross thought to me. You don't get to injure players to give yourself a boost, that's terrible sportsmanship. Now, if they blow down the play for an injured player, they should check him out because if someone is embelleshing and kill a scoring chance through that, the avs should get a pp as reparations, but that's another thing.
