I think Sydney was disappointed by that time. She had said she was in great shape, and maybe hoped to break the US record.
Maybe the wind in the home straight affected her, She was being caught by the second placed athlete in the home straight . That is unusual for Sydney .
Still a win is a win and we shall see what happens as the season progresses.

I think Eugene is a very bad venue to run 400m. Allyson ran 49.99 here in 2015 and managed to run 49.26 at worlds. Sydney could very well be in some 48.9 form

She in the beginning stages of the 400m, Paulino has been running this for years, give Sydney some time. She beat Dalilah in the 400m hurdles, eventually she will conquer the 400m.

July 22, 2022: Setting another world record of 50.68 in the same year.
June 30, 2024: Setting a world record of 50.65 after a brief hiatus from the hurdles in 2023 due to a knee injury.
August 8, 2024: Setting another world record of 50.37 at the Paris Olympics.
2025 she is running the 400m again and claiming to be sick with fever.
2026 back to running 400m hurdles with more World Record times? LOL.
Sydney fan and I know she will win. She gets faster each event
