I suspect a decent amount of those guys are on the list for their offense alone, yet talked about as two way defensemen. Charlie's missing that level of offense but he's also getting that two way hype. Putting it bluntly, defensively he ain't all that. Why does he "need" to play with a Lindholm? Because Hampus is a #1, Charlie isn't. And if I'm right, McAvoy fits comfortably in the 30-45 range. Btw, although he showed longer flashes back then his Norris votes were also thanks to hype.
He's not a superstar but he's very good and by far Boston's best.
Season hasn't even started, Charlie coming back from a serious shoulder infection. Give the guy a break before claiming he's not a top 10 blueliner. Smh, more reason to Haye Bruins fans who only trash the team.
MacAvoy is good but has always been overrated. He doesnt elevate his defensive partner he needs someone to do that for him. He sucks on the PP, is great 5 vs 5 and is ok on the PK. Last minute of a period or game he is meh. Good physicality, good passing, good skater but hes also a mouth breather like Lohrei. He also has only played more then 70 games twice.
