No they won't win the division, 3rd at best. Rielly on the PP is dead weight, he has nothing to offer. Have some faith folks, Easton Cowan is a top flight prospect who accomplished Marner like numbers in junior. He might inject some much needed calder energy this season to replace Marner's stale and selfish game. It was only two training camps ago that Cowan scored some dooozies!
I really do believe this team is not only better than last year's line up, but a LOT better.
Based on exactly how "Tree" put it, a change in DNA!! This team isn't meant to win divisions, it's built to win playoff series and hopefully the cup!!
In this era of NHL playoffs you have got to wear down the enemy, you have to crush them, hurt them make them tentative about entering your end zone about digging pucks out against the boards, about going for loose pucks, everytime the enemy enters into any of these plays they get crushed!

He's a large man and uses his body smart!! He "knows when to hold em, knows when to fold em, knows when to walk away knows when to run"!!
"Tree" had done an absolutely stunningly amazing job in rebuilding the defence in short order without a pocket full of belly lint left behind by Kyle Dubas and Shanahan!
Now he's been busy adding forward positions and had rebuilt the bottom six with the left over belly lint from Dubas and Shanahan!!
Everybody is so glued to losing whats his face, the money grubbing cry baby weasel and hios 100 points, and lackluster playoffs..PFFF BAH BYE TINY TEARS!!

The Atlantic will be a real dog fight but I think the Leafs will win the division even though they have a weaker regular season team than last year.
Florida doesn't care where they finish as long as they make the playoffs. Tampa Bay has peaked and is not going to have more regular season points than they had last year. Montreal and Ottawa will have better seasons but it is difficult to see a big enough jump to finish first.
All that being said I believe 102 points will win the division and 92 points gets the second wild card.
As the Bluejays have shown this year, internal improvements can really make a difference, so Matthews, McMann, Robertson, Cowan etc. should be the focus
Leafs without 44 in 2023 19wins 2 losses. Career 46w 20l without rielly. Reilly needs to be benched or traded. We also dont need both Mathews and tavares. When either one is out of the line up leafs have a spectacular record somewhere in the area of 55 wins to 26 losses. Get rid of 34 and 44 and all the new guys. Spend the 25 million on 1 great forward and 1 great dman. Its that simple.

Leafs totally overuse their horses in reg season. Need to reduce ice time of top 6 a bit, rest them a game here and there… so theyre ready and able to make a cup run..
Especially that soft and now always injured poor excuse for a captain, Mathews. He is not built nor does he play- EVER — with the drive and passion needed to take this team anywhere.
Remember this conversation..u will NOT see a better version of Mathews. He is 10 ish years into his career. What u see is what u get. A soft, one dimensiinal player who plays tonight, lags tomorrow night, accepts facewashes, slashes elbows willingly, and NEVER stands up for himself, or his teammates when the going gets tough. And now without ..arguably.. one of the best setup en in the history of the game setting him up constantly ??? Mathews is a 20-25 goal man. 30 tops. And NOT the man we need at the top.
