I'm not looking for any success from this team this year just growth and a clear way forward but at home and down on the Farm; any success, lets deal with, if it comes via growth, development and staying healthy; if were in a lotto position, its a win win…
Trade barzal overated big contract
It'll be 2-3 years for Eiserman, Eklund, Schaefer, and Richie to make a difference for this team. By then, who knows what the rest of the team will look like. Darsh should look to continue to continue the rebuild this season.
Lee,barzel, trade. Engvall and that bum Mayfield must be bought out.
So with this off season which team is closer to winning a cup? The Islanders or the Rags? I am going with the Homer pick and say the isles are closer to winning a cup. π
Seems like we need to strengthen our goalie pool.
this years 20th pick was i believe Braeden Cootes, has anyone been talking about how good he is, Why should i get excited about Eiserman who was the also the 20th pick. Gil you said Eiserman is a scorer, is what this team needs, why did Mr. GM pass on Misa…A proven scorer, i think you are giving these prospects too much attention. Matthew may be a good D- man, he is not ready at this point, years away, I heard all this before, Nelson and lee are going to be 40 goal scorers, that did not happen, where is DuFour? This team has become unwatchable at this point…No direction but down
Islanders have a Bright Future! 2 more first round picks in 26. One of Lee , JGP, Pelech, Mayfield might bring a possible bounty. Lee and JGP could yield a first or second round pick. β¦. The future is bright
Good π, Gil. How are you? The Islanders Prospect Pool is very good this year. Matheiu Darche's doing a fine job so far. Their top prospect, Matthew Schaffer, has a very good chance of making the team. Cole Eisernman has a chance, too; however, I hope he stays at BU until he can handle life in the NHL or he declares a major, WHICHEVER COMES 1ST. They haven't had a sniper since Ziggy Palffy or going further back than that, Mike Bossy. They need a sniper that will scare goalies to death whenever they face the Islanders. I hope they don't make Isiah George the 7th defenseman. They now have a lot of talent
The weaknesses the Islanders have, and there are plenty of them that is a right defenseman. Rayn Pullock with a NTC, Tony D'Angelo, who's got a one year left on his contract. HAPPY π, TAYLOR PYATT. He scored the GW goal in a win over the π. Hear from you later, Gil, but before I go, I finished π Game 6 of the 80 Finals. Key moments. 1. The missed offside call, and if course, 2. Bob Nystrom's OT STANLEY CUP WINNING GOAL. Also I π Game 1 of the Wales Conference Finals from 1982 between the Islanders and the then Quebec Norduques. They won, but it seemed that spark was missing I could be wrong. Now, LET'S GO, ISLANDERS.
Good morning team! Gil, with the prospect pool being as poor as it was the past few years, we do have to give Darche his props. I like what he's doing and, I hope he continues to do what he does. That being said, we really don't know how our kids are going to play at the NHL level. It's of course our hope they will do well enough to bring the team to a place we'd like to see them. I believe that has a lot to do with coaching. Bridgeport is going to have to play a big factor in their development. Fingers crossed they don't come out of Bridgeport clueless. I have very high expectations for our youngsters and for the ones to come after them as well. Thank you, Sir. Everyone, have a great day! See you all again Wednesday. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!
Re Ritchie, I think he will most likely come up before the trade deadline when there is an injury, and Darche & Roy will use that as a litmus test for how ready he is.
Danil Prokhorov on the LW is an interesting prospect, too!
In two years, we could see an elite "Kids Line" with Eiserman, Eklund, and Ritchie.
Respectfully, I'd hold off on calling Eiserman a potential NHL sniper before his first game. It feels like we've been here before. The names Wahlstrom, Bellows, and Dal Colle come to mind. They were all drafted higher and had the same (or more) hype than Eiserman. Hopefully some of that was on how horrible our prospects (and Bridgeport) were handled in the past. Hopefully you're right and there's been a course correction. Regardless, Eiserman should just be considered a decent/good prospect. When I think of NHL snipers, Ovi, Matthews, and Draisaitl come to mind. Even if he succeeds and has some success, the term "NLH sniper" is probably a (big) reach. Boy, do I hope I'm dead wrong. Lastly, great job with your podcast.
Thanks Gil for this comprehensive breakdown of our prospect pool. LGI
Its bizarre to me that a 24 year old kid who has never played in the NHL is not considered a prospect. To me, Shabanov has to be considered a top 5 prospect for the Islanders. I don't know what else you would call him besides a prospect.
Is Henrik Tikkanen still part of the organization? I won't be able to watch your entire podcast until later but I see from some comments below, that you're talking goalie prospects. He's a pretty big kid. What is he 6'6"?
