  2. Trade him for a 2C. Of course more will be needed. His value is at a max now. They aren’t winning the cup this year so move forward.

  3. Matheson will not accept a 3rd pairing role in his contract year. The only way to properly evaluate laine this season is if he is playing with an appropriate center that can get the most out of him.

  4. Why keep talking about signing for a discount? If he scores 30-40 goals and picks up his defensive play why should he

  5. Matheson is one of the league’s most elite skaters.. and is a valuable player, who truly wants to play in Montreal…rare. Unless his trade can bring in a McTavish-like 2C, then keep him, his abilities and veteran leadership . NO RUSH.

  6. Gotta say, I am extremely old school about loyalty. But that sentiment was born from the 1970s before players made serious money. I admit that I as a fan do not like to see players leave. Montreal now as of 2025 seems to have a team attitude of wanting to be there.

Not sure if most people understand what I am trying to say here.

  7. Imagine… Dobson – Ghoulie Hutson – Carrier Arber – Reinbacher… It can be crazy sick, but of course I removed Mathson who might play with Hutson, but I don't know. I think Laine will be gone by March unless they are in playoff run. He will not sign, here, I don't care what they say, he will want to much if he scoared 30 to 40.

  8. Patrik Laine can kick rocks. Any of you who want to see this guy hop over the boards in a tied G7 of an ECF, you are thinking with your heart not your hockey brain!!
