To me, to start the season, the Habs will have one true first line, followed by three third lines. I like the idea of having Demidov playing with a real center, even if it’s not the best offensive option. With Dach out to start the season, I’d like to see a line such as Laine–Evans–Demidov, or Bolduc–Veleno–Demidov, matched up against other teams’ third lines…Any thoughts on that?
What I’m seeing is a "middle six" composed of Newhook, Veleno, Bolduc, Evans, Demidov, and Laine, with a "fourth line" of Gally, Anderson, and either Kapanen, Blais, Beck, or even Xhekaj (?) competing for the center spot on that line. What do you think?
Be patient and keep developing!
Xhekaj is not going to stand around watching Hutson take punches in the face in scrums. Struble does not hit as hard or punish players with heavy hits like Xhekaj. Struble has not had many fights, probably one and didn’t do very well. We need a player who can play the game but also answer the bell when he has to. Xhekaj will be that defenseman when given the opportunity and when properly coached.
Dès le début le fait que votre commanditaire soit une entreprise d'ici et ne soit pas du pari sportif nous met dans de bonnes dispositions.
Grant was almost exact with his projections for Lane Hutson last year. He knows his hockey. Kappanan will get his chance and we shall see.

LOVE the new Sponsor!🐕🦺🐈🐑🐇🐔🦒
If Evans is the 2C for Montreal, no playoffs for you! And me.😢
Great show gentleman. I love where this team is at. But we need to stay the course and soon we are going to be a real problem.
Fans love Arber. MSL doesn't trust him. Both Matheson and Arber are trade bait.
If Reinbacher and Engstrom kill it in Laval as the top pairing D, would it be possible thay can both become the 3rd pairing D in Montreal by February and if they hold their own, force KH to trade Matheson and another D such as Struble or Xhekaj ?
Reinbacher in Laval until the trade deadline when Matheson is flipped for a stopgap 2C.
Laine – Evans/Beck – Demidov: Jake is unselfish and is defense-first with some scoring touch. The other two can focus on offense and Jake can stay high in the slot for transition. Beck was a face-off machine in the minors.
Arber had a good rookie year and has a deceptively good shot. I might consider putting Arber on the wing with Evans/Beck and Demidov so that no one will touch Ivan and Arber can plant himself in front of the net. Think of how the Bruins put Chara in front of the net.
Sean star is starting to sound like marinaro not good sick of listening to you fanboy over struble compared to Arber it’s brutal and hard to watch struble is not good and should be traded
god shaun starr is annoying with his anti jackeye bs. Struble is so mid he needs to go.
Hey shaun did you know Jackeye was a + in the playoffs and Struble was a – so cut the crap.
It's true: We're still in a Rebuild.
Mctavish is worth Anderson Hage and a first top 10 protected. 🏁
Can Reinbacher prove he can play a full season of 20 min per game hockey and not get hurt? If he can, the Habs Cup contending is set. Debating about 3rd pairing guys is irrelevant.
As far as I’m concerned, Reinbacher should play in Laval until at least early January.
Assessing how patient Hugo are going to be is they key to predicting their moves. The less patient they are the more likely imo they trade guys like Reinbacher and Hage who will need time this year or next off-season. The key guy is Demidov imo. If he explodes into a superstar this team shoots up into a top-10 team and HuGo might decide let's go NOW.
I love how every team in the league would line up to trade for Xhekaj and he we are talking about whether he has a spot. Am I taking crazy pills. If you want a replacement for Savard you have it in wifi. Kid is still young. I think you keep Mike on a team friendly deal wifi as the 7th guy when the games get rough an And trade Jaden in a package for a 2c.
The best part of Reinbacher is there is no reason to rush him anywhere with the current roster
The marketing alone would be mind-blowing if Kapanen were the Habs' next 2C….91, 92, 93!!! C'mon, it writes itself, lol!
I think that one year in Laval will do so much for him, I say let him develop there and call him up mid year if he's really dominating there.😄
Thanks!
My thinking is this is the last year in a Habs uniform for Matheson an Struble. 2026-27 could very well be Dobson/Guhle, Reinbacher/ Hutson and Engstrom/Xhekaj with Carrier alternating as a 7th. Engstrom is very capable to play right D having played there several years in the SHL. With his elite skating it wouldn't be a problem. If Engstrom has another awesome season in Laval he could easily be a key piece for a 2C. He's got the skill to be a 2nd pairing Dman. If that occurs then perhaps Trudeau gets that 7th spot. Ultimately Matheson and Struble will be gone by 26-27 and Carrier likely will have a diminished role.
