3. Chase Priskie Signs with KHL’s Sibir Novosibirsk: AHL Star Defenseman Heads to Russia

Former Hershey Bears standout Chase Priskie is taking his talents to Russia, signing a one-year deal with Sibir Novosibirsk of the KHL. The 29-year-old defenseman was a key contributor to Hershey’s 2024 Calder Cup championship run, leading all AHL defensemen in playoff assists (12) and tying for the league lead in points (14) during the postseason.

Despite his impressive AHL career and offensive production from the blue line, Priskie has only appeared in 4 NHL games, all with his hometown Florida Panthers in 2021-22. Originally drafted by Washington in 2016, he’s bounced between several organizations including Florida, Buffalo, and Anaheim before returning to the Capitals system.

Last season with Hershey, Priskie posted career-high numbers with 12 goals and 35 points in 61 games. His move to the KHL comes after Washington traded his signing rights to Minnesota, who opted not to sign him before he became a UFA.

This video breaks down Priskie’s career journey, his offensive capabilities as a defenseman, and what this move to Russia means for his hockey future. We also discuss Sibir Novosibirsk’s recent signing of former NHL goaltender Louis Domingue as they bolster their roster with North American talent.
