Three Shooting principles
The biggest lesson I learned from studying Matthews, Bedard, and Pastrnak scoring off the rush is the balance of three key principles.
Understanding how they interact will immediately improve your goal scoring ability.
Matthews pulls the puck from center to a one foot rip off his left leg. He focuses on catching the goalie moving.
Pastrnak transfers his weight from his outside to his inside leg.
This shot relies more on power and accuracy since the goalie is already set.
Bedard blends power, accuracy, and quickness while using subtle outside momentum to change the shooting angle and gain access to the far post.
Each shot is influenced by all three factors but breaking down these subtleties helps you reverse engineer them and develop your own goal-scoring instincts.
