Seriously. Why do you get an established top 6 guy on a value deal whose ENTIRE value is goal scoring, then not put him in the top 6 with McDavid or Draisaitl to score goals? Especially with Kane out and Holloway gone. Would love to know the thought process behind that decision because who the fuck gets Jeff Skinner for a bottom 6 role?
He did the right thing. Skinner needed to learn how to be responsible, he was forced to be consistent defensively and now he knows his play in the top 6 is conditional on it. His back checking has improved and his turnovers aren't as abundant. It's establishing accountability.
Skinner cannot handle the primary offensive duties. However, he excels at being the secondary guy!
This means he cannot handle the puck, doesn't go to the net, and doesn't win board battles, but he is exceptionally good at being an invisible ghost (he gets lost)! McD is handling the puck, Hayman crashes the net, and he is the third guy who does all the rest!!
So Zack Hyman plays for Toronto Maple leafs and gets 10, 15, and no more than 21 goals playing for Toronto. Comes to Edmonton gets 50 on McDavids line and he no question top 6. Lol. But Jeff Skinner playing for a crap team like Buffalo gets 20 -30 consistently even a 40 goal season but it's absurd to see him as a top 6 player? The coaching is absurd. He got like no ice time like at all and still had 12 goals. If he plays as often as Hyman does he might still have a chance to get 20. I believe the Oilers owe him that. They've treated a star player like sh!t

My new theory is that this was knobs plan all year. Saved him all year. Little secret weapon to deploy end of the year. Heat him up for playoffs 😂

His career +/- is not that good. What I see is that he is better defensively now.

I would rest drai and McD till the playoffs and let the rest of the team find their game and play more minutes

Too true. It was a no-brainer and Skinner would have 10 more goals right now.
I've been saying he's a top 6 since he came over. If no one else believes that you don't know much about hockey. Lol
