Iβm happy to see this and I will be getting his jersey. Finally somebody to actually stick up for our boys when they get hit. Iβve seen too many occasions time and time again or one of our boys gets clobbered and thereβs like no retaliation. No way of like Kayla letβs not do that again you know.
Goodrow, Grundstrom and Ostapchuk do not have the deterrent effect of Ryan Reaves. One other thing Grier mentioned during that presser was the Sharks' dressing room is too quiet and needed a bit more personality. I am curious to see how many games he plays this season. Another day closer to training camp!!!
Reaves does not have to drop the gloves to be effective as a fighter or agitator, as his presence in key parts of game is enough to strengthen team resolve. I hope that he turns into a firecracker player able to light up the rookies with enthusiasm. But he has to keep from getting injured, stay lean and hungry for puck in front of the net. Sharks did not have a power forward to dominate the front of net area and cause mayhem, maybe Reaves could do special ops on their defence during power plays where goalie need to be blocked and defencemen blocking shots need to be heaved out of the way. This rehab is a long shot by Mike Grier but he may know the difference between players who can return to form and players too hurt to keep up with fast play. Reaves used to be a big hitter and if he can do that for Sharks then divert attention from snipers and shooters will get better results. Hockey is mostly about who can dominate the immediate front of the net due to goalies being so good that they need to be overwhelmed in this area.
Im not a SJS fan per say but they are building the right way a young team team & reaves will be a good fit for sticking up for Mack & the other young guys.
Hey Brodie, I have to admit that hearing we had signed Ryan I was a little taken a back. It kind of reminds me of when we signed Marty McSorely and a few other tough guys who were already past their best days. The one thing I am hopeful for is that at some point the coaches and players will take advantage of his presence and have him do a session on how to protect yourself if you have to drop the gloves at some point.
Joe Pavelski, Patrick Marleau and Alexander Korolyuk all dropped the mitts at various times. Who could forget Korkies fight with Paul Kariya? hehe I hope none of our key players ever have to drop 'em but, I think it's important to know how to protect yourself if you get attacked by a bigger, more dangerous opponent.
I don't know if this is a thing at the NHL level but, it sort of seems like somewhere guys have some idea of how to tie up with an opponent if it happens even if they don't intend to punch anyone. It seems like a sensible thing for guys in the NHL to know how to protect themselves?
Iβm for it ππΌπ₯π₯π₯ was a big body for Vegas and always put hits so hopefully heβs still in form for punishment n turn the momentum when or if needed plus a big voice in tha locker room π«‘ππΌππΌπ₯π₯π₯π¦π

The only upside to the Sharks signing Reavo is him stickin' up for the youngn's when other teams take a run at them ππΌπ₯.

Heβs also a vibes guy. Not everything needs to be measured by analytics. A little swagger can do a team a lot of good.
Iβd love to see him beat the tar out of Vatrano for what he did to Mukhamadullin at the end of last season.

Idgaf how long ago that rivalry was. 100% would have rather had him than Evander Kane. Worst signing of Doug Wilson's tenure. Welcome ryan!!!!
