No way you get rid of a top 4 RH defender for a 2C a There are more centers in the NHL than top RH D's. We () has already done enough this summer to advance the team this season. Let's hold our future stars for another season and see what happens. There will be other 2C's available next year. Hutson this season….15G 67A for 82pts. Keep the faith and Go Habs Go!

Not surprising that Lane didn't get invited. He is extremely small for a defenseman and needs to improve his defense. When a 6'4 winger is barreling towards him to score, it's understandable that he is not often able to withstand it, despite his competitiveness. Sure he gets points but he needs to improve massively on defense. I'm sure he'll make it next time.
Instead of chasing a 2C we should be holding auditions. Prime spot a younger guy might wanna join the fun
No way Reinbacher is going anywhere…I would bet my full Mortgage on it! If there's an untouchable, Reinbacher is it, even if Habs brass don't say it externally!

McTavish is being characterized as a 2C by so many on the web and Reinbacher is being characterized as a top 4 RD. Both characterizations are close but lack context. Mctavish is a 2C right now, who still has the potential to turn into a 1C, Reinbacher is an unproven prospect, who still has the potential of being a top 4 RD. For me, in a 1 for 1 deal this is an easy assessment, McTavish all day. Now if you add a Beck or a Kapanen it might muddy the waters but it doesn't change the fact that another potential ppg center could completely change the long term outlook of the Canadiens in a way that a fourth defenseman (yes fourth, behind Dobson, Hutson and Ghule) could not.
Now if you just don't believe McTavish has that potential, fine I get it. I would like to point out however that he finished 57th in center scoring last year, with only Bedard, Celebrini, Wyatt Johnston, and Logan Cooley being younger having scored more and they all played on first lines. I like Reinbacher, and hope he turns out but in terms of potential value this is a slam dunk.
If we trade Reinbacher and he end up be 50% of what was expected, we would lose the trade. Might be better to be more patient and wait for the right trade. We have Hage that will be our 2c in 2 to 3 years max at the worst. Trade draft picks and Anderson or Arber but keep Reinbacher and our other top prospect.

Just trade Reinbacher for Mactavish, who cares, he will never be an allstar defenseman, unless he plays somewhere else and plays on the pp 1. Stranger things have happened.
I personaly hope none make the teams for Olympics, cuz looked what happened this last season when they had a break they were all great, Suzuki, Cole, and Hutson. They already have players like Hutson. should have he been invited sure, but he's still young. Also you don't need to hit in the Olympics, the big ice is all about speed or defense
