   Matheson needs a defensively responsible partner

   He can not be the one relied upon defensively sorry but he is not physical enough, lacks defensive iQ like something as simple as boxing out a player on the rush and closing a gap

   Riley Reid has a tighter gap than Matheson

   And his blocking I would say is more him getting hit by puck or screening the goalie than being a great blocker.

   Keeping him is luxury not a need

   Keeping him means blocking 3 out of 4 young D

   One spot open for

   Reinbacher
   Xhekaj
   Engstrom
   Strubble

   If you add up their Cap hits together they add up to less than Matheson’s current contract

   Moving Matheson opens 2 spots for young talent that brings more physically

   If there are injuries still have the depth in Laval with guys like

   Trudeau ( who is so underrated )
   &
   Del Gaizo

   Reinbacher will make team and with Matheson still here that means that

   Xhekaj
   Struble
   Engstrom

   Will need to wait for injuries to make line up…

   I do t know about you but I’d rather see them in line up or on a rotation than keeping Matheson cu he speaks French

   If Matheson was from London Ontario this conversation wouldn’t even be taking place

   Building a contender here not handing of participation ribbons to guys that speak French
