CANUCKS TRADE CALL FOR CASEY MITTELSTADT CONFIRMED? VANCOUVER & BOSTON TRADE RUMOURS

CANUCKS TRADE CALL FOR CASEY MITTELSTADT CONFIRMED? VANCOUVER & BOSTON TRADE RUMOURS

Ah, it all comes full circle, baby. It all comes full circle because 7 years ago, there was a very big debate amongst NHL fans, Vancouver fans, and Buffalo Sabres fans as to who the best NHL prospect was. Now, this is a video that I’m trying to skim through and see if we can actually get the hockey news report. It doesn’t look like it showed up here in this video commentary, but you’re going to have to believe me here on this one. I lived through the tale 7 years ago to make this video about the Vancouver Conucks top prospect versus the Buffalo Sabres top prospect at the time because in 2018 the top two prospects in the NHL were Casey Middlestad and Elias Personally regarded in that order. It was talked about in the hockey news and the magazine. It was discussed all over NHL social media. Penderson versus Middlestad was a really big deal and we made videos about this topic 2 years after the 2018 season. We made a video about it last year and now things are coming full full circle because just yesterday we made a video talking about how Casey Middlestad who is now a Boston Bruin by the way could be on the move one more time. Now before we actually dive into the Conucks part of this video, I just wanted to say, man, this guy’s headsh shot has not changed. Like he even has the same head tilt and the same smile and the same warm gaze towards the camera. Look at his head shot in 2018 after getting drafted or 2017, excuse me. Look at his head shot in 20 whatever this is 2019 as a part of the Sabres. Look at his head shot at the start of the season with Buffalo 2 years ago. And then look at his head shot after getting traded over to Boston. This guy does not change. All of these Middlestad images look exactly the same, and he even has the same little head tilt. Talk about a model of consistency. Now, unfortunately, you can’t necessarily say the same thing about Middlestad and his point production on the ice. He’s 26 years old, signed on till the end of 2027, making $5.75 million a year, a contract signed by the Colorado Avalanche for three seasons, and a deal that was seen as pretty good when it first began. He had himself 57 points in what is that 80 games played as a member of the Sabres and the Avalanche. Was a point per game with Colorado in 23-24. But then the season after things really didn’t click. He wasn’t all too great. 34 points in 63 games played. He was not a confident second line center option. The ABS traded him for Charlie Coyle and then he had six points in 18 games with the Bruins. It’s now been reported, as we had talked about yesterday, that Middlestad could very well be on the move again because part of the reason the Bruins even made the trade to get this guy is because they were interested in the draft pick and the prospect that they got, not necessarily Casey Middlestad himself. Boston received Middlestad, William Zellers, and a second round pick. They were interested in the latter two of those assets rather than Casey Middlestad. So now this guy is on the market again. It’s already been talked about by NHL executives before the season even ended that Middlestad could once more be an NHL trade target. And I refrained in the video yesterday from straight up mentioning Vancouver or something in the title or the thumbnail. You know, I like to clickbait y’all on this YouTube channel. It’s kind of my job to get the clicks and I’m not going to shy away from admitting that. I’d be a liar if I said that. Oh, I don’t clickbait you guys. No, like I know what I’m doing here, folks. I try to be upfront and honest about it so that y’all don’t get as upset as you seem to be at me at times. But still, I refrain from talking about Middlestad with the Kucks in the title and the thumbnail because I was like, “Yeah, there isn’t really anything to connect those two until now.” Because now we are diving into Sakaris and Price and Elite Prospects Cam Robinson who made an appearance on the show the other day. This is a clip of the episode from August 12th earlier this morning. And this clip actually talks about Elias Person. He’s got the swagger and he’ll hopefully be able to bounce back. Look at Sweetie. Sweetie. Look at Pey. Yeah, I know. I guess Petey is our sweetie, right? Sweetie. Sweetie. Pey, I think. What a golden boy for the Vequa Lakers back in 2017 18. But here is the summary of Cam Robinson’s Sakaris and Price show stint courtesy of our friend Kucks news summaries on Twitter who went out there and provided some very interesting updates from Robinson in regards to the Kucks. Now we can dive into all this stuff in later videos, but I wanted to focus on this right here. Casey Middlestad and Pavl Zaka, both written about here and both talked about by Cam Robinson. Cam thinks that both of these players, either of them, would represent upgrades for the Vancouver Conucks. Robinson thinks that Middlestad has more pure skill while Zaka is the bigger body and plays with more physicality. The price to acquire Middlestad or Zaka will not be cheap and Cam is sure the Canucks would be calling about both of them. Now, Pavle Zaka be damned. We could make a video talking about this dude and the Vancouver Conucks, but I have a feeling that we already did that. Let me just look through my JPEGs on my computers. Oh, yeah. We did. We made a video talking about Pavle Zaka and the Utah Mammoth. We also made a video a few years ago talking about Zaka and the devils. Yeah, there it is. That’s exactly what we were looking for over here. Zaka, Lego Rocks9. We have made videos about this stuff. Ah, the mammoth video was 2 weeks ago. Okay, great. So, it was already discussed on this YouTube channel that Pavlz Zaka Boston Bruins Center would be a target for both Utah and Vancouver. But now hearing that Casey Middlestad could be in the mix as well. Oh boy, I am getting excited. Not necessarily because I think that Middlestad will be everything the Vancouver Conucks need and then some. He was brought in to be 2C in Colorado. He was able to do that for a very limited stint towards the end of 24. But in 2425, he just really didn’t do that all too well. Sure, you can say that half a point a game over half a point a game is fine, but there was a little more to be desired out of Casey Middlestad in the Colorado Avalanche system. Also, you have the fact that Ross Colton absolutely exploded for offensive production when nobody thought he would be able to do that. Brock Nelson was brought in. You also have Charlie Coyle that was brought in. So, there wasn’t really that spot for Middlestad anymore. The Avalanche of course are a team that want to remain competitive and want to be in the mix every single year from here on out. While McKinnon is in his prime. So Casey Middlestad just didn’t really work out there. Now he’s in Boston and they want to shop him too. I’m thinking of how poetic it would be to have all of this discourse surrounding Person and Middlestad and which prospect was better with the Vancouver Conucks and all that stuff all those years ago only to actually get these guys on the same team years and years later. It’s like the old Gabe Valardi thing. Oh, you’re thinking about Jonathan Tabes, the next Jonathan Tabes. Why would you not take that guy? Why would you take Person? Okay. Well, now you’re in a position where there’s another dude that I person had gone up against in the eyes of fans of the Vancouver Conucks. This Person Middlestead thing was so interesting back in the day. And now, 7 years later, we could see ourselves an opportunity for Vancouver to reunite the two guys. Not because they were ever together in the first place, but because Kucks fans just could not shut up about it. But I guess you could also say that Middlestad and all the hype that he did have was justified. He was very productive in the NCAA and in his opening Buffalo Sabres stint. Not to mention that World Junior season that he had. He was so good. It’s why he was thrown all the way to the top of the top prospect rankings list anyway. And now I think we can all comfortably say that Elias Patterson was the better player for most of their career so far. But Middlead, if he ends up playing behind Elias Patterson, that could be a very nice compliment. So, with all this in mind, let me know your thoughts in the comments section below about Cam Robinson’s report here that Casey Middlestead would be somebody the Canucks are calling about. He’s sure the Canucks would be calling about Middlestad and Pavl Zaka. Zacha is not new. We’ve already talked about him, but what are your thoughts on Vancouver reportedly going to call on Casey Middlestad? What do you think the trade price should be for a guy that Boston wants to get rid of? Let me know in the comments all your opinions. I hope you enjoyed this Ash roll 9 and bye.

  1. From Buffalo
Mittlestat is a very skilled player . He is a playmaker and right now he is mocked because of his days in Colorado and Boston. However , it’s not fair when he hasn’t played in either team for a whole season. And it’s proven first year players on teams struggle to get accustomed to new team . Very skilled player who would be a steal of can be taken

  2. Could you ever think of this trade :
Vancouver gets : Zacha, Mittlestat and Florida first round pick
    Boston : Patterson

Vancouver doesn’t get locked in for a bad contract if Patterson fails .

  3. They both suck

At least Middlestad isn’t the most overrated and overpaid C in the league

Same can’t be said for 10 Ply Pettey
