The Only Way for the Sabres to Fix Their Reputation is WINNING #Buffalo #NHL #Sabres #Sabrehood
in regards to the tax situation I like to point out that nobody wanted to go to the Florida Panthers for a decade plus before they brought in Bill Zitto as their general manager nobody wanted to go there it’s not like Florida didn’t or had really bad taxes in the last decade that one decade where they couldn’t bring anyone in it’s just they weren’t winning this is a matter of winning or not another thing about the whole tax situation we’re not the only New York team it’s not as if the Sabres are the only team who have to deal with this problem let’s look it to the New York Rangers or the Islanders or the New Jersey Devils Anaheim Ducks San Jose Sharks the LA Kings anyone in Canada all of those teams have tax problems and yet some of those teams still find a way to bring in players you don’t hear their fans constantly complaining about oh the Canadian dollar is weak or oh the taxes here in California are absurdly high that’s not an excuse there especially for those winning teams those winning teams win in spite of that why because this isn’t a tax centric league this is a winning ccentric league

A winning franchise is great no doubt and more appealing to many players, but having the ability to pay some players 1 to 2 million less and retain more space for other role players helps to maintain a winning team. I want Edmonton to win this series but Florida is in a spot to maintain it's core for as long as they can perform.
I'm looking at a tax calculator now, 10 mil in Florida turns into about 6.1 mil after taxes (I thought it'd be more money in pocket) but 10 mil In edmonton Alberta is 5.2 million. Not as big a difference as I thought but it is a difference.
I agree to a point, winning is essential … all of a sudden almost everyone is willing to play at a discount if you are a big contender and winning on the daily (get far from the players who aren’t willing to, like the core 4 in Toronto). It’s especially useful when its time to get those last minute mercenaries before a cup run either in free agency or at the deadline.
Taxes has a huge impact, but there is ways to compensate for it, homegrown players that were selected well with a good deal of loyalty can go a long long way, always hunting for good value deals, waiting last minute at free agency, unless there is an urgent need …. the last few players who haven’t signed yet will panic and sign at a bargain. Also, always forgotten, playing for an organization with a good rep that treats their players, personnel and fans right is a giant plus, guys could always go to Buffalo or Arizona, if they wanted a few more millions, but did they want to ?
What is missing to Buffalo and what was missing in Florida was hockey heads at the helm of the organization. Look what happened with the Bills the fraction of a second the owners stopped being hands in everywhere.
