  1. Canucks players and management have a tendency over the years to say what the fans want to hear, and then it’s a whole other thing when it comes down to actually performing during the season. I’ll believe it when I see it on the ice

  2. Plenty of skilled players have had maturity issues. The thing is, you wouldn't want to give up on players like Jaromir Jagr. Maturity can be dealt with. Everyone grows up at their own pace, but you can't replace raw skill. The Canucks' problem is that they never brought in any veterans known for leadership qualities to help these kids grow up and show them the way. That was the mistake. Mike Gillis, for all his failings, was roundly criticized for bringing in Mats Sundin, but by doing so, he actually made Ryan Kesler a better hockey player and we all know what that (almost) led to. The Canucks don't really have any guys outside of Myers who have been around for a long time and are known for leadership. Forget Rossi and whoever else might still be available in free agency. Why not Ryan O'Reilly? There's almost no chance Nashville makes the playoffs next year, so unless he wants to stay for family reasons, he might be a good pick up just to help out as a veteran leader. That's what this team needs right now. They're not winning the Cup this season, so why not make a move to bring in a vet who can show some of these younger guys the way? Trevor Linden became captain at a young age, but he had help. He had guys who had been around for a long time who could help him. Quinn doesn't have that. When Miller was bullying EP40 and EP40 was responding with immaturity, what exactly was Quinn supposed to do? Who would provide backup for him?
