On April 11th, 2023… The entire NHL changed with the outcome of one game. Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins faced the Chicago Blackhawks in game 81 with playoff & draft lottery implications surrounding the entire game. With the chance at Connor Bedard on the line for the Blackhawks…the outcome of this game would change the entire NHL as we know it.

Malheureusement la prononciation des nom est vraiment mauvaise
And I thought I was a CONSPIRACY THEORIST. LOL
Almost always enjoy your vids immensely, but this one’s not great even for a “what if” clip.
The Hawks winning didn’t get them in the 3rd draft position, it’s the overtime point in game 82 that tied them with CBJ, with the Hawks having the tie breaker.
Game 81 was not especially meaningful or directly correlated with winning the draft.
As for the Panthers, they controlled their own destiny before the Pens played the Hawks, as the Panthers would clinch with a win in their last game. Pens lost and Panthers clinched regardless.
The idea that somehow Pens missing the playoffs led to Panthers getting playoff experience and therefore winning back to back cups is one of the worst leaps of logic I’ve ever seen.
Stick to the hockey vids instead of this make believe nonsense.
I was literally about to comment butterfly effect and this man drops it as the last line banger in the video. So cool to think about all these scenarios. They play out every single day in all our lives. Wild
Love the HHTH cap. 🔥🔥🔥
Forever…so this is going to affect the NHL 70 years from now? Or just had a minor trickle-down that affects present day?
Damn you Buddy Robinson! /Sincerely, a salty bruins fan.
I don't think you are giving Jarry enough credit for being the one to let in the goal.
omg it’s this game nope I’m leaving before I break something
Can someone give Dallas Stars ownership and management and let them know they need a major culture change please!! Thanks. From a exhausted Stars fan.
Nicely done, bit of chaos theory!
Random Duck legend Buddy Robinson mentioned!
Random Sabres hate, cmon man we’ve been through enough already 😢
Charlie Kelly levels of red string connecting, and I loved every minute of it. I was reminded of one of Marchand's OT ending breakaway goals in the 2025 playoffs against EDM, as if the put the universe back in order. Love the off season videos. October can't come quickly enough.
Although it wasn’t in the final week of the season. Patrik Stefan’s empty net gaffe resulted in the Blackhawks drafting Kane instead of the Oilers due to the 1 point Edmonton got in that game; and a dynasty was basically born
Didn't know I needed this, makes me excited to watch next season 😮💨
All of your videos are so good and detailed and well-thought. Shits a banger
That was a insane timeline
Youre a beast bro!! Great vid, keep it up.
Thanks, I was still salty over that loss to Chicago. Now you tell me it made Tkachuk a back to back cup winner
Fuckin Buddy Robinson eh
Awesome video. Crazy to think how seemingly small events can create ripples into history
Soon as the video starts with an ad, I dip
11:20 Oilers could have had a dynasty 10x over if they didn’t have a shit front office
Something similar happened to the Penguins at the end of the 24/25 season, where they somehow got a hatty and won against Dallas. They'd been eliminated from the playoffs at that point, so they were more loose and relaxed than the Stars.
great story!
I would hope mcdavid watch this and think “so I messed up by being too good”
Another Hockey Psychology instant classic!
Wasn’t this video posted like 2 years ago already?
Hmm, I sworn I was subbed 🤔 ill re sub brother. Nice video per usual
So basically what im hearing as a pens fan is that florida should thank us for being such colossal choke artists. You're welcome panthers.
As soon as you went to 2016, I assumed you were lining up the Vancouver Canucks passing on Tkachuk in the draft and calling Olli Juolevi's name. What a clanker of a pick that was!
Letting Kane walk still makes no sense to me. Love the hawks but realistically if they made all the same moves and kept Kane they’d probably have finished in the same spot just with a few more goals on the stat sheet for the year from patty. Imagine if bedard had Kane as a mentor well foligno was behind him. That right there has the ability to be an amazing trio. Swap bedard and foligno as centre and wings depending on the situation and I think that has top line potential league wide if bedard lives up to his potential
The butterfly effect… interesting!
Time traveller moves a chair:
This is actually insane
Tkachuk vs Puljujarvi…
hmmm
Great Job
So all this stems from the Canucks pick oulievi
You'll need to update this video in a few years when we see how big of an effect Jim Montgomery leaving Boston and joining St Louis has for the St Louis Blues. I think St Louis has a very bright future, and Jim Montgomery is a big reason why.
You are talking out of your ass. The only thing that changed the NHL was the paul kayiya fire 50 years
