Which Habs Prospect Will Surprise Us?

In this video, we shine the spotlight on Adam Engström — the under-the-radar Canadiens prospect who might be Montreal’s next big surprise. From a 2022 third-round pick with questions about his defensive game, to a breakout in the SHL and a seamless rookie season with the Laval Rocket, Engström’s rise has been fast and impressive. We break down his smooth skating, smart puck movement, and why staying in Laval last season could set him up for NHL success. Could Engström be the sleeper who cracks Montreal’s lineup in the next couple years? Let’s talk about it.

  1. I wish the best to you and your family with these fires. I'm from Quebec City and even from here we see the smoke in the air. Good luck my friend 💪🏻

  2. Since everyone is writing off Dach I'm going with him.

12G 48A centering Demidov and someone.

Ah crap …prospects. Ok that small guy name rhymes with looney.

  3. Best of luck with the fires. It's drier than a sun-cooked hell here in Montreal too. Fingers crossed we've got some rain to shuffle your way soon

  4. If nothing else, Engstrom seems to be a chip either in Montreal or somewhere else in the league. He does seem to have more room before he hits the ceiling.

  5. Good pick to surprise fans, I love the way he skates and his offence is better than expected so I hope to see him with the Habs one fine day. I always wonder if Ghule might end up being traded because he would fetch a 2nd line center, a very good 2-way play-making center with size and grit? I never thought I'd say that, but no one else has that value and Engstrom could fill the bill. Lots to think about, but first and foremost, I'm wishing for the safety of you and your family as well the community in your area. Thanks for the post, cheers.

  6. Stay safe and keep your family safe. Wildfires are no joke.
I'm going to be very interested in seeing how Engstrom develops. The greater the depth the better our trade options become. I have a feeling that Mr Hughes is going to give Dach another year before he tries to sucker some GM into a trade for a 2C. A well developed Engstrom might just be the bait we need. 😊❤😊

However, I'm now going to whinge regardless. Heatwave number four or maybe five is about to hit northern England over the next few days. When you're used to 18-21°C and it suddenly surges to 30°C with 80% humidity, it's tough. And then, by the time that you've started to acclimatise, it's going to drop to 16°C and you feel like it's mid November. The joys of a maritime climate at 53.8°North. That's nearly 10° further north than Fredericton! 😮

  7. I think tyler thorpe could be a solid bottom 6 , i saw him play live in some before the pre season at some prospect game at the bell centre and the guy was one of the best skaters on the ice and could hit like a truck and was surprisingly defensively reliable

  8. I hope they keep Engstrom, good all around player and so much potential. I was at that game when he scored the OT winner!

  9. If we thought and studied forest management by how nature does it, I think we would be better off.

Especially in New Brunswick lined up replanting in retrospect was a bad idea with no malice. Not saying this was meant. K.C. if he had any idea these things could happen, in my opinion he would not have done it.

Everyone was so concerned about clear cutting we forgot to look at the bigger picture. Leaving dry kindling everywere was normal for 6 generations.

Anyway, not trying to make a political statement besides, we can't really blame the government nor business for expecting the same results without any data to suggest it.

F@#$ bro, the hate is unjustified.

  10. Reinbacher, Hutson, Ghule, Dobson should be top out of camp

If Reinbacher doesn’t team than Carrier is the 4th best top 4

If Reinbacher makes team and Matheson is still here

Matheson will be blocking Xhekaj, Strubble, Engstrom & Trudeau all those young D that honestly I would rather see in line up

Engstrom on many teams would be a #1 D prospect and he is very comparable, much less of a turnover machine than Matheson

Trudeau, Xhekaj, Struble all bring a physical element that Matheson can’t

And are all the more reason why Matheson is expendable

Trudeau is the forgotten D, the kid is solid and on many teams would be a #2 D prospect, nothing flashy just a sound D guy like a Savard type will block a shot with his face and now you out with his forehead

  11. Losing Hynamen and Armia will impact in a negative way.
Slavkosky was injured last year and missed back to back weekend games.
Habs won both with the first line shooting darts.
Once Slav came back they lost 6 in a row and the first line shit the bed.
    Slavkosky has to go.

  12. Keep your mind open to Swedish defencemen. In their Cup runs, the 2nd pair was Nick Hjalmarsonn and Johnnie Oduya. Neither were heavy hitters like NAhockey fans seem to think is the way to go, but they were great at playing angles, getting stick on puck/stick on stick, and there has never been anyone who blocked more shot than Hjalmarsson.

  13. Engstrom is a top four d-man because he creates offense. This year will determine if he will remain a AHL top four or move on to becoming an NHL top four.

  14. man the amount of deadwood in moncton even the provincial parks is worrisome eh? keep these videos coming whisk we neeeeeed them right now in this off season. Way too excited for October lol? finally have a formidable team and the young guns are taking their roles.
