  1. Flyers fan here. Amazing runs for both us and the Habs that year. Halak is the one name that sticks out for me in that series on our opponent's team.

  2. The Halak Ness Monster, that 2010 playoff run was some of the most exciting hockey I've ever watched. Guy stood on his head, was incredible to witness.

  3. After I became aware of him during that legendary 2010 run, I was always a fan. Loved having him on the Islanders. I feel like he always gave his team a chance. Could really stand on his head when he needed to

  4. 2010 Halak had the best playoff goaltending I have ever seen in my time watching hockey (since 09).

In games 5-7 against Washington he stopped 131 of 134 shots (sadly no shutouts) for a .978 Save Percentage!! Truly a legendary performance!!

  5. Another great journeyman in the Ron Tugnutt mould who gave everything but never quite caught the breaks. I was always disappointed he never got a shot in Buffalo as I did rate him back then. Solid career none the less.

  6. Highlight of his career will be his agent crapping on Price back in ‘09. Walsh loves being the centre of attention (didn’t even get him that confirmed 18th season either)

  7. When are you going to make a video, "My favourite Slovak players".
Slovakia has had a lot of NHLers over the years.

  8. And when Halak came back to Montreal, he shut out Montreal 3-0. Halak forever, Price still never got a cup. 'Nuff Said.

  9. He had two incredible seasons. Never did he put together seasons like those again, but he was amazing in Montreal and St Louis.

  10. I wish Halak had stayed in Buffalo. That would have been a great return for Miller..

  11. Halak was something of a folk hero in St. Louis also. I lived there for a few years and people who only followed the Blues would always ask me "How's Halak doing" since they knew I followed the league as a whole.

  12. Two things are certain truths in my head. If Montreal had made it to the SCF in 2010
    1. Chicago would have blown them aside like leaves in autumn
    2. Halak would have won the Conn Smythe

  13. I was pissed when they replaced him by Huet for the last game against Toronto where the playoffs were at stake. I don t remember the year though.

  14. Honestly as a kid who was raised by a die hard habs fan i remembered watching Halak come into the league and almost instantly i was a fan and then that 2010 playoff run happened and i was even more sold on him. I still remember my dad trying to calm me down when i found out Montréal traded him, i was absolutely livid but i was always happy to see he had a good career still. I almost named my one cat after him but Ilya Bryzgalov just slightly edged him out but it was down to Halak or Bryzgalov

  15. My favorite player in the video games since his last name is close to mine, so I use it for be a pro

  16. In 2010, he looked like a franchise goalie. I was lucky enough to watch a couple of Olympic hockey games in Vancouver … One was Slovakia vs Norway. Halak had a strong tournament and would later have an amazing NHL playoffs. At the time, he looked better than Carey Price … Which sounds VERY strange now.

  17. "The return on goaltenders is always less then we expect" … This might need to be on a Hockey Guy T-Shirt since you say it so much ,,, And it is TRUE.
