Join Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico as they talk about NHL forward, Mason McTavish. Are the Montreal Canadiens in the mix if he does become available via trade? The Detroit Red Wings are apparently very interested in him. IF McTavish is available, what would it take for the Montreal Canadiens to get him from the Anaheim Ducks? How steep a price would you be willing to pay?

  1. If McTavish is like Slafkovsky, I would pass . If Slafkovsky doesn't bring it from October and carry it through till the end of the season, you can expect him to be moved

  2. No Think above future salary cap. If you acquire McTavish you have to give him a big contract which is a gambling. We have Michael Hage and when he come with the CH the Mc Tavish problem will come back

  3. I would make the deal. Engstrom is an underrated prospect. Hutson or Matheson can play rd. Tough decision but they should do it.

  4. McTavish is an NHL center first or second line center in Anaheim. Reinbacher is currently a guy with potential who hasn't been able to stay healthy/ Right now there is no way Anaheim would trade for reinbacher here.
Now I heard a laughable Josh Anderson rumour but again that's nowhere near enough.
I think they would want Guhle and say an Oliver Kapanen.
Two years to find another top end center.
Could we trade Matheson and Anderson?

  5. To me, MTL made their choice to keep Reinbacher way before but also confirmed it as soon as they traded Mailloux.

RHD with a ceiling like Reinbacher are very tough to find.. they drafted him 5th overall, clearly they like him. No way they trade him before he gets a chance to actually play.

From the little I saw from Reinbacher, if he can stay healthy, he’s going to be a stud.

  6. Hage draft story would would make it too cruel to trade him away… Mctavish is good, but there will be other players available with patience, maybe even at free agency, or from teams who want draft picks rather than prospects… the timeline for Hage only requires MTL to fill the gap for 2-3 years until he’s ready

  7. Very Unlikely Mock:

    Boston receives:
    – Alex Newhook
    – Jakub Dobes
    – Sean Farrell
    – CBJ 2nd 2026
    – MTL 5th 2027

    Montreal Receives:
    – Pavel Zacha
    – Jonas Korpisalo

    Projected Line Up

    Forwards:
    Caufield – Suzuki – Slafkovsky
    Demidov – Zacha – Laine
    Bolduc – Evans – Gallagher
    Veleno – Kapanen- Anderson
    Blais
    LTIR: Dach

    Defensemen:
    Hutson – Dobson
    Guhle – Carrier
    Xhekaj/Struble – Matheson

    Goalies:
    – Montembeault
    – Korpisalo

  8. Absolutely not.

We’ve still got plenty in the pipeline developing… no reason to unload a potential high end RD for a 2C now. 2-3 years from now when there is more of an opportunity for an extended playoff run, potentially. Only if our internal players haven’t stepped up and developed into that role.

  9. Micheal Hage could easily be 6'1 210lbs in a couple years. Just a bit lighter than McTavish but a better skatter. Maybe we should wait a year or two.

  10. Maybe one of Anaheim issues, maybe they have an internal cap … yes they have space this year, but next 🤔🤔I don’t know about that..they have Gauthier,Carlson,Lacombe,Mintyukov, Zellweger where cap experts say that is around $35m so add McTavish that would make it around $42m, probably too much for ownership mindset, with more talent in the pipeline to come
